i so didn't grow up like that, i was tough on myself, but never to that level, i played the violin and loved it (my own choice) i wasn't however allowed to participate in any sports or extracurricular activities (other than the violin) or go out to the movies, the mall, anywhere, haha. i can truly appreciate how strict my parents were, they just wanted me to be focused. and it has truly helped me as an adult!

Definitely extreme. I think having strict parents is better than having too lenient of parents. I had friends who never had a curfew in high school and I couldn't wrap my head around that.
