In my first pregnancy, I stayed fairly small until my third trimester. This pregnancy has been similar, I can still wear all my normal clothes but my belly has definitely grown, so I’m still needing to invest in a few maternity pieces. I’ve found that it’s tough to find maternity items that fit petite women like me so here are my finds for the best places to shop for petite maternity clothes.
THE BEST PLACES TO SHOP FOR PETITE MATERNITY CLOTHES
Petite Maternity Maxi Dresses
Maxi dresses are so hard to find in petite sizes so when I found PinkBlush Maternity made petite sizes in their maxi dresses I was all over that!
This dress I’m wearing below fits perfect without any hemming or alterations. I was so excited to find petite maternity dresses! For reference, I’m wearing the XS Petite and I’m 5’2″ regularly a size 0/XS.
I also have a few of their tops and jeans and highly recommend them as well, as they don’t fit too long or big. I also love their robes that are perfect to wear at the hospital (great for photos once the baby is here) and a great selection of pieces to wear for nursing as well.
Chicwish does not have maternity specific items but I’ve found that so many of their maxi and midi dresses end up fitting really well and have plenty of room for the bump. I’m wearing this dress in a size Small.
And this maxi dress is a favorite that I wear before, during and after my pregnancy!
Maternity Leggings for Petite Ladies
On the days where your belly is just feeling so big and you need extra support, there’s nothing like a good pair of maternity leggings. I’ve tried many that were not tight enough so that the belly area was still a little loose as well as in the thigh area. The material of these Belly Bandit leggings is a knit and not a spandex so it actually fits really well to your body and is so comfortable.
Belly Bandit has the best belly wraps to help during pregnancy and also for recovery. I used the Belly Wrap in my last pregnancy and I plan on using it again! They have a great selection of belly wraps at Target if you want to save a little money too!
Affordable maternity jeans
H&M is my go-to for affordable maternity jeans. If you are looking for a true skinny jean, these fit the best and they hold their shape. I’ve worn way too many (both cheap and expensive) brands that look great at first but the more you wear them, they stretch out and lose their shape.
The H&M Mama jeans not only hold in your belly perfectly but they also stay fitted throughout the leg. Being that my legs are already short enough and then adding the extra bit of roundness in my belly, the last thing I need is some baggy jeans. I love the skinny fit of these and the comfort of the waist band.
These jeans are perfect to wear in every stage of your pregnancy.
I have a few of their maternity tops, although they aren’t essential. For the most part I can find many inexpensive tops and dresses in the non-maternity section that can fit over my belly as long as I size up.
For the prices at H&M, they are well worth it! I got this entire outfit at H&M for less than $20 (yes for both sweater and dress!)
Maternity styles for work
I find that fitted dresses are great for casual and running around with my daughter but for a workplace environment, they may not be the most appropriate. LOFT has a lot of great comfortable and professional looking pieces for maternity that come in petite sizing so you can be comfortable and stylish at work.
Trendy and Affordable Petite Maternity Styles
I’ve always found that ASOS runs small in their regular clothing so I love that they carry a maternity line as well. It’s great to find maternity clothes in small sizes that are trendy and affordable.
I advise to still order a size up from your normal size as the UK/US sizing that they have can be confusing but for the most part, they tend to fit small.
