I am so excited that summer is almost here. We really enjoy spending time outside doing activities as a family and now that the weather is getting nicer, I wanted to kick off the season with a family picnic with my daughters.

It is so important to me to enjoy quality time with my kids and to also instill in them at a young age that we are so fortunate for all that we have. From the roof over our heads, to the snacks we packed up for our picnic, I want my girls to be grateful for these things daily and to learn to help others who may be less fortunate. Did you know that 1 in 8 Americans struggle with food insecurity? This means that 40 million Americans do not have reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. So, when I heard about Walmart’s 6th Annual “Fight Hunger. Spark Change.” Campaign, I knew that this would be a great way to get my girls involved and to help families in need.

Throughout this campaign, Walmart aims to end food insecurity in local communities across the US by partnering with Feeding America, their suppliers, and their customers to help secure meals for those in need. All you need to do is purchase select items at a Walmart store or at Walmart.com and you’ll help secure a meal through Feeding America for families in need. It’s so easy to do your part and the eligible items are ones you’re probably already buying for your family (Kraft Mac and Cheese, anyone?!)

Some of our favorite snacks are part of the Fight Hunger Campaign so we picked them up for our picnic! I love these Bubly sparkling water drinks and Layla chose Hawaiian Punch to sip on. We also grabbed our favorite granola bars and Cheez-Its for an easy on the go option.

Food security is an extremely important issue and something that my family is working to do more to help with. It is amazing that we can purchase these everyday items that are already staples our home from Walmart to help support a larger cause. I encourage you and your family to join us and grab any of these items on your next grocery run!
