I always love decorating my house for holidays, but this year I went a bit crazy decorating for halloween! Last year, Edie was a bit too young to understand Halloween, but this year both girls will be able to enjoy dressing up and doing all the fun things for halloween!
I created a 7 printables that you can download this year to decorate your own house with! Keep reading to find out how to get the prints to your inbox!
I’m also sharing a few fun and easy DIY halloween ideas to enjoy with your kids!
Kid’s playroom halloween decorations
I usually decorate our family room but this year, decided to decorate the kid’s playroom too and it really didn’t take much but added such a fun halloween touch to the space!
Here’s what I used:
- Halloween colored balloons
- Balloon Strip (Or to make it easier you can get a halloween balloon garland kit with everything you need)
- Reusuable Hooks
- Decorative Pumpkins
- Halloween signs (head to this post to download the Fab-Boo-Lous print here, keep scrolling to the bottom of this post to get the other printables!)
- Ribbon
- Bats (I made mine with my Cricut Maker and black card stock, so that is an option too if you have one!)
Free halloween printables for your home decor
I have created several free printables that you can use to decorate with!
- Too cute to spook
- It’s just a bunch of hocus pocus
- I put a spell on you
Enter your email below (scroll down to the bottom of the post) and I’ll send you all 3 prints that you can print out. I’ll also include the 3 matching banner flags as well!
I tied the banner flags with ribbon, but another idea is to get some wooden dowels to create some cute halloween flags for your kids to hold for photos!
I’m always playing around with the decorations and moving things around. My daughter and I had fun making spiders (just use construction paper and some ribbon to hang them) to add to the decor!
My girls have loved playing in their halloween playroom! It’s inspired them to get into costume almost every day!
I pulled together this easy DIY Pumpkin costume idea with an orange sparkly tutu and orange tie dyed sweatshirt. And you can’t have a pumpkin without a stem, so I found some cute green headbands to add to their costume.
Kid Friendly Halloween Decor for your Fireplace Mantle
I started with the bats and then just kept on adding on here until I went full out halloween in our living room!
I added the two prints (don’t forget to grab your free download below!) and the cute ghost garland and really love how it pulled it all together!
Like I said I’m always changing things around so here is another way to decorate that leaves out the garland but adds in a cute “Boo” pillow.
Easy DIY Halloween projects for kids
Halloween is such a fun time for everyone and I like to create activities for my kids so that they can celebrate halloween all month!
Halloween Countdown sign
I don’t know about your kids but my daughter always asks me “how many days until X” for almost every holiday! I started making countdown calendars so that she could help keep track.
I created a fun printable for you to pop into a frame and then use a dry erase marker to let your kids erase and write the number in each day.
“scary” movie night essentials
My kids are too young for scary movies and I’m not a fan either! But we put on a fun kid friendly halloween movie and give them a bucket of popcorn with some chocolate mixed in and they think it’s the best thing ever!
Decorate your own Treat bags
Trick or treating is always a lot of fun and a way to have even more fun with it is to customize your own treat bags! I grabbed stickers, ribbon and google-y eyes and my daughter and I made some fun bags together!
Halloween Fairy Wands
My girls love fairy wands and I love how easy they are to make! All you need is some wood dowels, halloween stickers and halloween ribbon. Just pop everything on one end of the dowel and voila! instant fairy wand.
