Decorating for Easter is quite easy when you mix a few DIY projects along with a few store bought items. Since my girls love bunnies, I went heavy on the bunny theme, but it’s fun to mix in things like colorful eggs, chicks, carrots and flowers.
How to make your own Easter Bunny Garland:
Supplies for the Easter garland:
- Cardstock in a few colors
- Bunny template (you can download this below)
- Scissors or a cutting machine like the Cricut Explore or Cricut Maker
- Tape
- Cotton twine or ribbon
Directions for the Easter garland:
- Cut out the bunny shapes. (use my template below to trace onto your cardstock or use your cutting machine to cut them out)
- Cut a piece of string to fit the area you’d like to use the garland
- Tape the back of bunny shapes to the string
- optional: add embellishments like bows, glitter or pom poms to your bunnies!
- Hang up the garland with tape
You could make the bunnies out of different materials like felt or patterned fabric to give it a fun twist!
I used my hot glue gun to add small white pom poms to give my bunnies a furry tail.
How to decorate with your Easter Garland
There are so many ways you can decorate with your Easter bunny garland! It looks cute alone but I love to layer them with more garlands like I did here on my fireplace mantel.
You can also mix them with signs. You can make your own or there are so many cute inexpensive ones you can get! You can layer it with a cute saying like “Hoppy Easter” or “Happy Spring” and of course “Happy Easter!“
What I love about making my own Easter decorations is that I can make them to fit any space in my home. I made this garland a bit bigger so that it would fit across the mirror.
It’s also great to use colors to match the colors you already use in your home. If you’ve seen my pink living room you already know how much I love pink and it’s easy to decorate with pastels.
If your home is more neutral, you could always do your bunnies in more muted tones like a nude and blush pink and that would be really pretty as well!
Where to buy Easter garlands to decorate your home
Here are a few cute Easter garlands that you can match with your DIY Easter garlands!
These colorful easter felt garlands are so pretty and would be the perfect touch to layer with your DIY bunny garland.
These felt pom pom garlands are so cute, you can get ones with bunnies and eggs and even carrots on them!
I’m also a fan of wood signs to add a simple touch to your Easter home decor. You can hang this sign on your wall and add the easter garland below or around it!
Free download – Bunny templates
You can download the templates for both bunny shapes that I used here. Just put your name and email address in the box below and I will send them straight to your inbox!
I have included a file where you can download and cut out the shapes to use as a template. Just cut out and trace onto cardstock. I’ve also included an SVG File that you can import into your Cricut (or similar cutting machine) to easily cut.
Don’t forget to check your inbox to get the free bunny template download! And feel free to turn them into other fun projects! My daughter loved them so much that we ended up decorating them with glitter and stickers and adding faces to them just so she could play with them!
Putting together Easter baskets is a lot of fun and if you are looking for non candy Easter basket fillers you can include these bunnies as part of the basket to create their own craft from it!
Easter is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate with my kids. I try to do lots of fun crafts and activities with them and this Easter garland was a fun thing to do along with our mommy and me Easter dresses and egg dying crafts!
