One of my favorite things about this time of year is the festive outfits! But sometimes I find that it’s easier to dress our kids than it is ourselves! Here are 20+ Christmas outfit ideas for moms that are perfect for the holiday season.
All of these are so easy to put together and you’ll be ready for ALL the pictures that you’ll be taking all season long!
With so much going on leading up to Christmas Day, the last thing you want to be worried about is what you’re going to wear last minute.
No matter how you’re celebrating on Christmas Day, I have different outfit ideas for all occasions to inspire you below, from festive Christmas parties to being cozy at home.

Christmas outfit ideas to get you through the season in style
#1 Classic Red
We all know of the little black dress, but you can’t go wrong with classic red for the holidays! A pretty red dress or cute red sweater is an easy way to do just that. I love wearing red as it really makes a statement and is a fun switch up from neutral colors.
A red sweater dress would also be so perfect for the occasion and would be a really cozy chic look. I love sweater dresses for the cooler months paired with tights or black leggings and over the knee boots!
This dress I’m wearing above was great for the holiday season as it has long sleeves, which is perfect for cooler temperatures. I always love coordinating outfits with my daughters and the pink and red color palette we did above is just so pretty all together!
RED DRESSES UNDER $40
If you are planning to coordinate with other family members, a pop of red is always a fun idea!
I also love any feminine detailing on a red dress to soften the bright color, such as lace or ruffling as seen above. You could always pair something like this with tights and booties and a great jacket if you are in cooler temps and traveling to a party!
If you’re not a dress girl, a cute pair of red pants or a red jumpsuit would be a great option!!
A red turtleneck and white pants is such a beautiful and chic look! I know white pants aren’t the best option with little ones around, so might be better for a company holiday party, but still a fab look for the holidays!
#2 Cozy Cute
You can’t go wrong with a cozy outfit – am I right mama’s?! A cute and festive Christmas pullover sweatshirt or Christmas theme holiday pajamas are my favorite to wear during Christmas morning!
Of course, you can never go wrong with family matching pajamas!
This would also be a good idea if you are staying at home and doing something for low key.
Just get some cozy slippers and a glass of wine and you’re ready for a comfy night in to celebrate, or pop on a plaid scarf and boots and you’re ready for a low key Christmas dinner.
There is no better time for some funny/cute graphic tees and sweatshirts than the holidays! Express yourself with your clothes, it always looks so cute for photos too! It would be really cute to get matching ones for your kids too!
#3 Lace Love
I am always a sucker for pretty lace detail and I think a lace top or dress is perfect for holiday parties. They look so cute worn more causal with skinny jeans, or dressed up as I did below with a leather skirt.

I always love the look of a white lace top with white bottoms if you’re looking for a chic way to style neutral colors as well! An all white look is so chic for the holidays and would also be great for a family photo theme.
A lace skirt paired with a pretty blouse is another great option to recreate this style! Love the red skirt and the chiffon bow detail on the top as seen below.
#4 Festive Flannel & Plaid
Flannels and plaids are a classic during the holiday season and I love how cozy they are! You can really dress them up or down depending on what you’re doing.
They look cute with leggings and jeans, but also look great paired with a knit pencil skirt and ankle boots or thrown over a midi dress! You could also thrown on an oversized blazer over the flannel for a great work Christmas party look! The options are endless.
If you have a little girl, I love to pair a headband or bow to match the flannel shirt as shown above on my daughter!
If you are planning holiday photos I think the look of flannel shirts look great in a family photo! Each family member could have the same or even different colored plaid shirts to bring the festive look together. I love dressing it up with pretty skirt as seen below.
A flannel doesn’t have to just be a top! A cute pair of plaid pants is so festive and fun as seen below!
#5 Pretty in Pink
This may be a bit unexpected but I love pink for this time of year! I always do pink holiday decor and we even have a pink Christmas tree!!
A pretty pink dress always makes me feel festive and ready to celebrate. This would be a perfect outfit for a cocktail party as well! Just pair with some pretty pumps, gold accessories and a fun clutch to really amp it up. This would also be a great new years party look as well!
Velvet is a great option for the holiday. It’s so comfortable and looks great to dress up or dress down.

#6 All Green Everything
One year my girls and I wore coordinated green outfits and I just loved it! It was different than the classic red and still felt really festive.
You could pair a gorgeous green chunky knit sweater with blue jeans or a pretty emerald green dress with a cardigan and moto jacket. My favorite kind of outfit is a mini dress with over the knee boots and a cute jacket!
The green color is flattering on everyone and is so gorgeous. I loved pairing my look with the green headband as well for the finishing touch.
Emerald green velvet is my favorite! A gorgeous dress or fun blazer as seen below are two great options.
#7 Festive Floral
Floral dresses are a favorite year round and for the holiday are no exception! I love the femininity of floral dresses and that your accessories can really switch up the vibe. You could even do a floral printed top with an a-line skirt!
This is also a great way to get some use out of items you already have in your closet, you could pair a black turtleneck under a tank floral dress and have an instant Christmas party ready look with black booties.
A pretty floral skirt is another great option!
I love the idea of pairing the floral dress with OTK boots as well!
#8 Effortlessly Chic
The ultimate combo – a pleated midi skirt and cute pullover sweater. This may be my favorite type of outfit during the holidays as it is comfortable and still put together! You could also do this with a red midi skirt and a sequin top and heels, etc.! Mix and match it to fit your occasion the best.
I love outfits like this that are still comfortable enough to play with my kids and finish cooking up dinner. This would always be an awesome outfit for Christmas cards if you are planning them with your family! Would be so cute with heels or booties and a black leather jacket on top.
