18 CHEAP DIY WALL DECOR IDEAS
#1 Use a photo ledge to create a gallery wall
Here’s an easy idea that my husband put up in our house. This is great if you don’t want to worry about the logistics of putting up a gallery wall (spacing, nail holes, etc…) and are looking to put together a cheap gallery wall.
Use a picture ledge/shelf! I love it as I’m able to change out the photos easily and can even take off a few photos and add in some art work that the kids made too.
#2 extra large photos to fill up a wall
Another idea that I did in my house were these giant sized photos (they are 20×30). My husband and I shot the photos of our girls and just had fun with it!. All you need is a to capture your kids doing something fun or have them make funny faces and I’m sure you’ll love them!
My frames and photos are from framebridge. They print and frame all at once so it was very efficient for me to do it this way.
But for a less expensive option, you can also get black and white engineering prints. These can be done by your local print shop or Office Depot or Staples! Head to Chris loves Julia to get all the details on how to get them done. (Her 3 large prints cost $8!)
#3 Frame your jewelry as wall decor
This wall in my house is my favorite wall ever! And whenever I share photos of this room on my instagram, I get so many questions on how we did it.
The necklaces are samples from when I owned a jewelry line, but if you have necklaces sitting around that aren’t being worn, it’s a great way to re-purpose them! Really you can use any item you’d like as you can treat these like shadow boxes as well.
My husband used frames from Ikea and then cut and measured boards to fit the frames and then drilled the holes to hold the necklaces. We then taped the necklaces to the back of the board.
It’s a bit time consuming but once it’s all put together, you have a wonderfully unique art wall with repurposed items that you already owned!
