I tend to just shop at the same places, when I go to the mall I go the same stores, when I shop online, I always go to the same stores but lately I’ve been getting bored of the same stuff so have been checking out new (to me) stores. I shopped at Max Studio before but forgot about them until recently and have fallen in love with quite a few pieces.
I’ve been shopping for different patterns and prints lately and am loving their geometric prints for spring. That coral/red dress with the nude heels is calling my name!
I just adore all these pretty and feminine dresses. I love that they are casual enough to wear during the day but also nice enough to wear out with a blazer or cardigan for dinner.
I posted my nails on my instagram and facebook the other day and had a few people ask for a tutorial. Well, no tutorial is needed as these are stickers! Just paint, stick, cut the sticker to your nail size, top with a top coat! The easiest nail design ever! I got mine from this Etsy seller but if you do a search for “Chevron Nail Decals” you’ll find a bunch of options. They don’t last very long (mine last around 4-5 days) and you’ll have to re-apply the top coat to keep the edges from curling but I still think they are worth it for the cute and easy nail design. (Bracelets are from my jewelry line)
My latest make up routine includes the most amazing mascara ever. Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara is quite possibly the best mascara I’ve used in my life. Since I’ve been using this, people comment on how long my lashes are constantly. For an added fullness to my lashes I’ve been adding 2-3 individual falsies at the corners of my eyes. I’ve long given up the strip lashes that I used to love when I was younger but these individual lashes are the perfect amount to give your eyes just an added look of fullness to your lashes. They also blend in so well with your real lashes that people can not tell that you have falsies on. Along with the mascara, it’s an amazing combination! (I should mention that I use regular lash glue so I can take them off at night, not the stronger glue that they recommend with individual lashes – you have to use a special remover to get that glue off!)
Here’s a few photos with the mascara + lashes combination.
J Crew is currently having a 30% off sale
promo so here are a few that I tried on in store that got a thumbs up
from me. Not all are available online so I suggest checking in store as
they had quite a few different styles than online.
I’m a Chanel lover for life. Wether it’s bags, shoes, jewelry, I love it all. And Vintage Chanel sometimes is better than new! I own a clothing and jewelry line and I have gobs and gobs of jewelry unworn and samples everywhere. I certainly don’t NEED any more jewelry but I am still obsessed with Chanel jewelry. Every time I go to the boutique I love to see their new pieces. My husband got me this ring for my birthday and I can’t stop wearing it, it’s my favorite thing ever. It’s been posted on my instagram a few times (apologies if you are sick of seeing it! haha)
We got my mom a Chanel pin for her birthday and I snapped this picture when I was picking out which one, I just love them all! (In case you were wondering, my ring and these brooches below are not vintage, they are all current season, but everything else in this post is about vintage pieces.)
I’ve been to a couple of vintage Chanel trunk shows and I LOVE looking at the jewelry. Shopbop has a fab section of vintage Chanel and I love seeing their selection.
In my research I’ve found a few authentic re-sellers of vintage Chanel jewelry.
Vintage Five is a seller from Japan but they have an easy to navigate website, free shipping and also a boutique on Malleries. They also have this great page to help you distinguish between the fakes and the real thing. (My caveat: I have not ordered from here personally but just did some research on the web and they appeared to have good reviews and they do take returns)
Yoogi’s Closet, who I mentioned in my Where to Buy: Vintage Chanel Bags post, also has a small section of vintage jewelry. I love that they have the J12 watches as I’d never buy one at full retail but would definitely consider a pre-loved one.
Lastly, I got confirmation from the girls at the Purse Forum that Vineyard Vintage sells authentic pieces and they have quite an extensive selection so definitely check them out if you have a particular piece you are looking for. They also have a great page to help with authenticating pieces. Great to bookmark on your phone if you ever come across a vintage piece while antique shopping and you’re not sure of the authenticity.
I went to the mall this weekend and spotted the new arrivals at J Crew that I had been eyeing online so tried some stuff on but in the end didn’t end up loving them. Thought I’d give you guys my review in case you guys were thinking about getting them too. Also, I included the sizes I tried on, I found that most things ran TTS for J Crew and for reference, I’m 5’2′ and typically a size 0/XS in most brands.
The Tilda Oxford Rhinestone Top is adorable in person. Sorry I didn’t grab a better picture of the rhinestones on the collar, J Crew doesn’t have a better close up either but it’s so pretty. I love the detail. I wasn’t so sure about how high it went up on my neck, I felt like it was choking me, so I didn’t get it (but if it goes on sale, I might reconsider!). I’m loving the new Liberty print and immediately gravitated towards the toothpick jeans in the print. Super cute but a bit pricey. I have a few pairs of J Crew jeans and they’ve all stretched pretty badly on me (only after 1-2 wears) and I don’t want to be spending $150 on a pair of jeans that stretch so much but if they go on sale, I’ll definitely be picking them up as I adore the print! Oh, the sweater I’m wearing on the right is an old J Crew sweater I was already wearing that day, I just wanted to see how it looked like with a sweater over the rhinestone top which I would probably wear like this most of the time anyway.
Lots of pics, click through to see the rest of my shopping trip and buys…
I just blogged about this sweater and I really wanted to love it but I ended up not liking it. The collar is much too stiff and wouldn’t sit nicely. You see how it kind of stands up at the back? I couldn’t get it to lay flat on the around my neck. I also didn’t love the wide stripes on me. So glad I tried it on before I ordered it online as I definitely didn’t love it.
They had a small (very small) sale section that was an additional 50% off so I picked through it and found these cute color block chambray shirts. In store they were $20 each after discount but they’re $29.99 online so I would check your stores first! I just thought they were cute basics and could wear them with a cardigan or blazer for an easy daytime casual look.
I stopped by Madewell afterwards (J Crew, Madewell and Nordstrom are always my main staples when I hit the mall!) and the sales associate told me they were having an additional 40% off sale so I headed straight back to see what I could find.
First the new arrivals. I’m a sucker for cutesy prints so had to try on the Starry Sweater and the cutest bow jeans! The Starry sweater was too similar to my bow sweater that I got at Madewell earlier in the fall so I passed but I’m totally regretting not buying the cute bow jeans. I love them, however I do have a problem with printed pants/colored jeans at the moment and vowed not to buy any more but we shall see, I may return for these. 🙂
Like I said, the sale was an addtional 40% off so lots of great deals to be had! The Spectrum sweater is not on sale online but was marked down to $69.99 (the prices I list are all before the extra discount). I liked the chunky knit but it made me look a bit boxy so passed. The Heartstripe sweater that I’ve been eyeing was on sale for $59.99. And I randomly picked up these striped dot pants that I didn’t initially love but after trying them on, I knew I could pair them with lots of stuff I had at home. And the best part? They were $39.99! (and if you’re wondering, I ended up getting these because they are pants – not jeans – so they can be dressed up a bit more and I don’t have as many pants as I do jeans!)
– just a note, they were too big in the waist for me and I probably should’ve sized down but didn’t see my size out there so just went with these as they fit fine through the leg. But if you are getting them I do suggest staying TTS.
I thought I would like the gray Heartstripe Sweater better but I ended up liking this tan with the red hearts. They didn’t have an XS in this color but I like the look of a baggier sweater with leggings or skinny jeans so I don’t mind sizing up in sweaters.
I was flipping through the J Crew catalog and came across the Girl’s bags that are adorable and I totally would carry them. Obviously they aren’t something you can take into the office but just for fun, I think they are perfect to add to a casual outfit. Loving the mini Edie bag and the crossbody strap. The darling overnighter is perfect for the quick trips that hubs and I take when we go down to Portland or to see his parents. And the mini tote is like my very much used LV Neverfull except mini sized!
I’ve been a fan of the Cambridge Satchels for awhile but when I saw these smaller versions, I immediately wanted one. The polka dots are calling my name but the metallics (and they also have pastels) are fab too.
Before Christmas I took advantage of quite a few sales but have yet to wear any of my items for lookbooks so thought I’d share what I ended up keeping and love so if you guys are interested you can still find them online.
Chicwish has the cutest things and they are now doing 20% off your order of regular price items, use code NY20 and 10% off sale items, code SALE10
The sweaters only come in one size and run quite baggy but I like to wear them with my J Crew Pixie pants and booties for an oversized look. Plus, they are super warm and cozy so perfect for these freezing cold days we are having.
The pink polka dot blouse is from Sheinside (take $20 off orders over $100 with merryxmas20) and the beige polka dot blouse is from Shop Sosie (it has a bow in the back, it’s so cute!).
And just some cute printed items. I’m big on prints and have been getting more into printed pants and skirts.
I love the print of the gems floating at the bottom. I’ve been wanting to wear this but the freezing weather has kept me from wearing any sort of dresses or skirts lately.
We’ve got a great facebook giveaway for my jewelry line! 10 winners will be chosen to win one of our Pretty Baubles necklaces! The winners will get to choose which color they want out of the 5 colors we carry. I just love these and they look great layered too! Find the details on how to enter here.
