If you work in an office building or a professional setting where you need professional attire, a maxi skirt paired with a pretty top or a blazer is a comfortable and stylish look.
I highly recommend a high waisted skirt as they flatter all body types!
They are very similar to a-line skirts as the waist band will cinch in your waist and create/accentuate your curves, and the longer length gives the illusion of longer legs.

The type of shirts to wear with maxi skirts vary depending on the occasion, but there are so many different kind of tops that will work, which is why this is an easy outfit to pull together for warm weather or cold weather.
If you don’t have a lot of maxi skirts – you could also easily pair this with a maxi dress, just add these tops right over for the same look.
Puff Sleeve Top
The silhouette of puff sleeved tops with the exaggerated shoulder is ultra flattering and really gives the illusion of a smaller waist.
Even if they are in a t-shirt/cotton material, they still feel and look dressed up!
The puff sleeve top works great for more formal settings, but also just as comfortable while running errands.
When paired with a maxi skirt, a puff sleeve top is ultra stylish and flattering.
I wore mine as a monochromatic look in all red as seen below and it felt like I had created the look of a little red dress in my ideal silhouette!
I’ve also worn a black puff sleeve bodysuit paired with a pleated skirt. I styled is as seen below with black heels and a colorful clutch which worked great for a date night out!
You could swap the heels for sneakers and be totally comfortable in this to go shopping or out for lunch.

Graphic tees are the key to an effortlessly cool outfit and the pairing of a graphic tee and maxi skirt gives the perfect balance to compliment each other.
When styling a maxi skirt with a graphic tee, I like to think of the colors in the graphic itself and play off of that.
As seen in the photo below, the red lips in the graphic pull in the color of my red maxi skirt.
This is one of the best ways to style your favorite maxi skirt and works well for all seasons!
In cooler temps, throw on a black leather jacket or denim jacket over this outfit and you’ll be good to go.
I love to wear this outfit during the week, as it feels stylish while working and comfortable during play dates with my daughters!
I would say this is one of my most worn ways to style a maxi skirt and the possibilities are truly endless with a great graphic tee.
Lace Top
When I am styling a maxi skirt for special occasions or for date night – try a lace top.
Lace feels so feminine, pretty and ladylike but I also think the detail really adds an extra element to an outfit where something more formal is required.
I also love to paired the lace top with a maxi skirt that is in an elevated material.
A silky satin maxi skirt or sheer maxi skirt make for the perfect pairing and look so gorgeous when worn all together.
Just add on some sparkly jewelry and heels and you have a stunning look.
If you are a bride, I think a white lace top paired with a white maxi skirt would be an incredible option for a rehearsal dinner or bridal shower outfit. Lace and weddings go together seamlessly, and it would be fun to create your own set for your special day.
I don’t only style lace formally though! My black lace turtleneck and pleated black maxi skirt paired perfectly with my golden goose sneakers and I absolutely loved how the look turned out as seen above.

A white blouse is another go-to staple and it goes a long way when paired with a maxi skirt!
Whether it is a white button up or a silky white blouse, a white top is an incredible option as it goes with any type of maxi skirt you have!
You can dress it up with ankle booties or be laid back in the summer with slides.

One of my favorite ways to wear a basic tee is with a printed maxi skirt and a moto jacket on top.
As shown above I paired a simple basic black top with a silk leopard skirt and although the tee itself is very casual, when paired with the skirt it was the perfect compliment and made the best date night outfit!

This would work with any color skirt as long as the print colors in the top compliments it!
Whether it’s floral prints, cherries as seen below, or a striped top, a playful print adds so much personality to a maxi skirt outfit and can be worn to so many occasions.
This would be a perfect outfit choice for family photos, especially if you and your family were coordinating looks and all wore the same print.

I am a denim girl! I wear jeans often, always grab for my denim jacket as an extra layer, and I love denim/chambray tops.
