Putting together and decorating a baby’s nursery is SO fun, I remember it being one of my favorite things to do before having both of my girls.

My Top 5 Tips for Nursery Drawer Organization

  1. Keep diapering supplies & first aid items in the top drawer: Diaper changes happen often, and you will want these items within arm’s reach
  2. Display baby’s essential accessories (pacifiers, clips, and mittens) in an easy to find way: These are items your baby will use daily that you will not want to lose track of!
  3. Put larger items (swaddled, blankets) in the bottom drawers – These bigger items take up more space and will filler larger drawers
  4. Label all drawers for quick access – This takes organizing to the next level especially if you buy for the next size up and really makes it easy to put items away and for people to help out/grab things for you
  5. Use the rolling or filing folding methods so you can easily see all items – These folding methods not only look great but make it super functional so you can see all of the clothing items at once

Here are some clever nursery drawer organization ideas for the baby’s room that are perfect to keep the dresser drawers in the nursery clean and organized.

Nursery Drawer Organization Guide

I saw this post below and thought it was a great visualization of how to organize and map out the dresser drawers in a nursery.

I always like to plan ahead how I am going to fill out a dresser, cabinet, drawer, etc. as it makes gathering up the storage bins and organizers more efficient to begin with.

Some items to consider when planning out your dresser:

  • Diapering/Changing Essentials
  • First Aid & Grooming
  • Current Size Onesies/Clothing
  • Swaddles/Blankets/Burp Cloths
  • Accessories
  • Extra Clothing
  • Miscellaneous

When it comes to choosing the order of your baby’s items, consider what items you will want at arm’s reach/use more often and include those closer to the top of the dresser (such as disposable diapers, wipers, swaddles, first aid items) and then baby clothes they won’t wear every day and items like extra blankets towards the bottom of the dresser.

If you are a new parent and especially if you are dealing with a small space, you will quickly learn how full your hands are, and having things organized in this type of way really is more efficient and convenient

Nursery Drawer Labels

I am a huge fan of labeling for organization and I thought the inside of the dresser drawer labels was such a genius idea!

This really helps to keep baby’s things in all of the right places and makes putting laundry away a breeze – no matter who is helping to do it!

This also helps to really narrow down what items you have, start by organizing the items into sections by type, and then you can assess what organizers you will need to fit the items as well as how many labels you need.

No matter what the label size you need, you can find really adorable labels to match the theme or decor of your nursery.

Here are some awesome options that are really affordable and are so adorable below!

For baby’s closet, these closet dividers are so cute and perfect to organize all of your baby clothing, from newborn to 24 months.

Simple things like this really are the best thing for first time parents to help you remember where everything needs to be!

Diaper Changing and First Aid Organization

As mentioned above, I highly recommend creating a diaper changing and first aid station if you have the space in your nursery dresser drawers for your baby’s room.

People often use the top of the dresser as a changing table and just add the changing pad and cover to the surface of the dresser, so it only makes sense to keep items like extra diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, nail clippers, lotion, grooming kits and more right in the top drawer for easy access.

These are the items that you will use the most in the beginning and you will really want them easy to access during those nights with little sleep and multiple diaper changes.

Clear Bin Organizers

I use clear bin organizers all throughout my home (they are perfect for kitchen and fridge organization!) but they work great in dresser drawers too as they make it easy to see everything.

These organizers come in so many different sizes and shapes so you can find the perfect bins to fit your drawers the best, and I love how easy they are to wipe clean.

They have some options that actually stick together, so you can create your own grid of organizers to fit your drawers perfectly and ensure they stay in place.

Baby Accessories Organization

If you’re like me, you can’t get enough of the baby accessories. These days there are so many cute options from pacifiers and clips that are essential to headbands to sunglasses for babies that are just so adorable.

I love the accessories organization as shown below, because as cute as the accessories are, they can get messy REALLY fast if you don’t have a system to organize them.

I like to stick to smaller compartments when organizing accessories, so that each type and piece has it’s own place.

Look for dividers that have separate small compartments, and varying sizes just depending on the smaller items I am organizing.

These options below are perfect to fit in drawers and store accessories so each has it’s own place!
