You saw a glimpse of this outfit from my mother’s day post, so here’s the full outfit. I got this dress last year (see how I wore it last year here and here) and I mentioned on my facebook page that Forever 21 brought this dress back in stock and many of you told me you were able to get it! Yay! I really love this dress, I think it’s one of my favorite Forever 21 pieces ever. It’s really well made and the lace is just so pretty. The length is a little too short for my liking so I always end up belting it and wearing it as a tunic/top but I’ve seen it won as a dress on many other bloggers and it looks fantastic. I wanted to offset the girliness of the lace with some unexpected pieces so I paired it with my slim black trousers that I typically reserve for work and my funky Madewell necklace that made the top a little less “sweet”. The hot pink shoes came last just because I wanted to add color in the outfit.
They are sold out again of my top but you could acheive the same look with this pretty top. There are a ton of pretty lace dress options too, like this one from Delia’s (on sale). The ASOS lace bib top is a bit different but really cute. Or the gorgeous Backstage Glam Rock Dress that you can see on my sister here.
I love my pink pumps! I bought them a few years ago not thinking I would wear them as much as I do but they have become a staple in the shoe wardrobe. These are really similar in shape and color. And under $100! Or these Kate Spade pumps are so pretty!
I had a few questions about the size of my bag and it is the “large” size which I think is perfect. I’m about 5’2″ (5’6″) in heels and I think it’s a great size for me. I can carry a lot in it! The Dooney & Bourke “Florentine” Satchel is really similarly shaped don’t you think?
Thank you guys so much for all the nice comments about the new format of my lookbook photos! I’m glad you guys like them and the change was good for me. It’s funny, when I first started documenting my outfits 2+ years ago, the other style bloggers (there was way less of us back then!) were like me. No fancy backgrounds, no fancy shots. It was just purely about the outfit. Along the way, sites like lookbook.nu and Chictopia started up (which I’ve never joined, I have mixed feelings about them) which I think sparked the model like poses and editorial like shots. The no smile, eyes down, really moody kind of poses against a grungy background/empty field/brick wall. Well, that’s certainly not me so I went on my merry way with my non model-like outfit shots and was fine with them. I resisted the change because I liked my plain jane, no frills lookbook shots but as my blog grows, I’ve gone through some changes (this is my 3rd blog design I’m on!) so I thought about it and thought that it was time to get with the times. Hang out with the “in crowd” 🙂 So I requested a different way to shoot my lookbooks and my ever so patient husband, obliged my every request on what needed to be shot and how to shoot it until we were happy with the style that was shot. I also owe my husband a big thank you for he’s the one that came up with the idea of adding “What I’m Wearing” to the photos and I got a lot of feedback that you guys love it. (Hubs also came up with the silly title of this post. lol!) Being a blogger for as long as I have, it’s only natural to go through some changes and I feel as I’ve been stuck in a rut for a bit so I’m ready to change it up. I’m not sure what else I’ll be changing, I think I’ll just be adding a variety to the type of posts I write (not just style/fashion related) so if you have any suggestions of what else you’d like to see, feel free to let me know!
Onto the outfit! I searched high and low for pink pants and my first stop in San Francisco was Zara where I had a suspicion that they would have them and they did! They had 2 pairs that I really wanted but I ended up just taking these home as I thought 2 pairs of pink pants may be a bit excessive (but now I want the other pair. haha) My outfit was inspired by an outfit I saw in a magazine as I loved how they styled the pink pants with the ribbon belt so that’s exactly what I did! It’s just a fun twist to the usual belt and I’m loving it. Just go to the fabric store and buy a ribbon that’s long enough to fit your waist! Super easy and cheap too!

I like the pleated detailing in the front of the shirt. The tuxedo henley is similar but a bit more casual and it’s on sale for $19.99 with 30% off all sale items. (use code LOVEIT, expires on Wed.) and don’t forget to ebates it to get cashback as well. Or just get the boy shirt for the same look without the pleats
These are a more loose fitting trouser in the same fun pink color or these ASOS skinny jeans are super similar to mine (but limited sizes). Delia’s also has a cute pair, for a whopping $9.99!
I mentioned on a previous lookbook how much I love these pumps and I still do! If you are a size 6.5 you are so lucky as Bluefly.com has the same pair for 20% off! I’m also dying for these two tone peep-toe pumps. So pretty!! The Cole Haan Air Talia pumps are great for a “designer” pump but at a better price point.
“What Goes Around Come Around Vintage” bags are always in fantastic shape but they are all still really expensive. Still, I do love looking at their selection of bags and jewelry. And if you haven’t read my post on my tips of where/how to buy vintage Chanel, click here!
First lookbook for the Miu Miu bow bag! I <3 this bag so so much. I haven’t stopped carrying it since I got it. It’s the perfect size for all my stuff and just so cute! These pictures are the first day I got it so the leather is a bit stiff (the top flap is suppossed to flap over but it wasn’t cooperating because it was too stiff) but now it’s all nice and smooshy and gets smooshier by the day. I love smooshy leather. And just saying smooshy in general. LOL!
This little dress is one of my all time favorites and I actually wore it around this time last year. (Boy was I tan! I just got back from Jamaica in that photo which is funny because I’m off to Jamaica again soon.)
Theory Alexandra Striped Silk Dress
I can’t find anything similar to mine with the ruffles, but lots of fun stripey dresses to choose from! This Theory one is really pretty but also loving the Minkpink stripe mini dress (on sale for $32!). Also adore the Vince maxi dress. I think I need a striped maxi dress to add to my summer wardrobe.
Christian Louboutin Simple 70 leather pumps
I’ve had a few readers tell me that they had luck finding the Simple 100 pumps (the ones I’m wearing) by stalking the stores or having a sales associate stalk the inventory for them, so they definitely still are available! I can only find the 70 (which means a 3 inch heel) so if you like the shorter heel, snap these up!
I took a long time deciding which color I wanted and I was slightly worried about this gray but now I love it. It’s neutral enough to go with everything but still stands out with the outfit. If you are looking for something similar and not as pricey, check out the Kate Spade Cobble Hill, the shape is really similar! I think for the same type of satchel shape, the Badgley Mischka Melissa Turnlock Satchel is also really cute.
Don’t let the presence of the sun fool you in these photos. We took these in April (if you can’t tell I’m always about a month behind in my lookbooks) and it was still freezing out, hence still wearing the winter coat. Anyway, did you have a good weekend? Mine was busy! One of the highlights was a brunch at Citizen. Ever since hubs and I discovered their amazing breakfast sandwich – Your choice of apple smoked bacon, Black Forest ham or veggie patty. Served on our homemade savory biscuit with white cheddar cheese, egg, spinach, tomato & crème fraiche – we’ve been obsessed and went there again this weekend to indulge in the deliciousness. The homemade biscuit is to die for. Yum! The crepes there are great too. I’m a huge fan of crepes which is why we went there in the first place. Other crepe places in Seattle that we love? Anita’s crepes in Ballard and 611 Supreme in Capitol Hill. I don’t know how many times I get asked for my list of recommendations of places to eat in Seattle. One day, I will write a post but considering how much I love food and how Seattle has amazing food and restaurants, I’m thinking it will seriously take me a whole month to write it. 🙂 I’m thinking about adding food posts to the blog though just for a change!
I’ve been on a lightweight printed blouse kick. They are great worn on its own without having to add too much to style the outfit. My favorite place to buy them at is at Madewell and ASOS. You can find some great inexpensive ones at Forever 21 as well, like this floral printed blouse(love the crochet detail) or this long sleeve blouse that I would wear with a pair of white shorts and nude wedge sandals.
SO many cute pleated skirts out now. I want to add a few more to my closet. I’ve got my eye on this gray pleated skirt and I super love this lace pleated skirt from Forever 21. AND I love the color of this peachy one and this bright blue one too! Too many to choose from, I can’t narrow it down!
If you are looking to invest in a nice classic pair of pumps, THESE are it! I love them so much! People often ask me what brand I recommend most and I absolutely love Miu Miu shoes as I find them all to be very comfortable. If you want a pair of sexy black pumps, Louboutin is your man, but for a great classic and comfortable pump that will last you years, I would highly recommend these babies. I got them a few weeks ago and I’m trying not to wear them with every single outfit but I can’t help it, I love them!
I also love the nude version of these pumps. Looking for a more affordable version? Check out the Nine West Rocha Pumps (which come in a ton of different colors as well) on sale for $59!
Just re-posting this post that blogger lost. Thank you to Latte Love for the tip on grabbing it from my reader! So glad it wasn’t lost forever! All the comments from the post are lost though so if you had a question that you left last time, please feel free to leave it again and I’ll get back to you right away. Thanks! 🙂
What I’m Wearing
Blazer: Bird by Juicy Couture
Sweater: Vince
Jeans: Madewell
Shoes: Miu Miu
Bag: vintage Chanel
This week has gone by so fast it’s one of those weeks where I’ve packed so much stuff in one week that I can’t even believe it’s just been 3 days.
We finally got our new car. It took us 3 weeks of going to dealerships and seeing what cars we liked to finally decide what car to get and then it took 4 hours for all the negotiating and signing papers. I’m SO glad it’s over.
I flew to the Bay Area for meetings and it was so beautiful there but my allergies were TERRIBLE there so I was super congested and had to blow my nose every 3 seconds. Not fun.
On the flight back, I thought my allergies were just getting super worse as my throat closed up and eyes swelled up until I found out that the lady sitting in front of me brought her cat onboard and I’m super allergic to cats! I quickly got my seat changed but I was a hot mess when I got home.
I still wasn’t feeling great the next day but I forced myself to go to bootcamp and I think I deserve a gold star for that 🙂
Oh did I tell you guys I was doing bootcamp 3 days a week for the past few weeks? It kicks my butt but I love it. I haven’t weighed myself since I started so I don’t know how much weight I’ve lost but it doesn’t even matter because I can tell you that I feel FANTASTIC and fit and toned. I am so proud of myself of what I accomplish at bootcamp which is an amazing feeling knowing that I’m a small girl but I can still keep up with the big boys. 🙂 I highly recommend joining a bootcamp!
I haven’t been on twitter or blog reading/commenting because of said trip/meetings/allergies. Hopefully will feel better next week because I know you’re dying to hear from me. or NOT. haahahaaa! Oh and facebook is being a b*tch and not letting me post links from my blog. I kinda hate it right now.
I rarely watch TV and when I do, it’s only on DVR so I never see commericals but last night hubs told me to stop the DVR to watch this commerical and it was so heart warming I burst into tears. Best commercial ever.
One favor please? Anita, a lovely reader of mine is recently engaged and is in the running to win a wedding gown (which would help her out a lot since she and her fiance are paying for the wedding themselves) and I would love to help her win! Please click here and click vote! That’s it! Contest ends on Friday so any votes you guys can give would be super appreciated!
Or this Theory Lanai linen-blend blazer is great for the summer and would look great over dresses. But I also love this seersucker blazer. I can’t wait for it to be sunnier here so I can actually pull out my summer blazers!
I love these lightweight sweaters that don’t make you feel too bulky but also keeps you warm. I’m loving this Vince String Knit Sweater even though it’s for fall, our current weather is still acting like fall so I’ve still been shopping for sweaters lately! This cashmere wrap front tunic sweater is the perfect slouchiness. Doesn’t it look so comfy?
My first lookbook with my short hair since so many of you have been asking to see it but I still have a few left with my old hair that I will sneak in. This is actually the day after I got my haircut so it was still “fresh” to me and wasn’t yet sure how to style it. As you saw in my last week in photos post, I’ve been styling it different ways and have gotten better at it. I’m definitely not loving it here but that’s how it goes when you go for a hair cut right? It just doesn’t want to behave for the first week or so!
This blazer has been getting a lot of play lately (as you can see, I wore it in my beachy waves video post too but with a different top). I’ve been loving mixing the stripes with other patterns and the colors in this top were the perfect pairing. When I first got the blazer I was having a hard time pairing it with tops but now I realize that you can go totally un-matchy with the prints and it still works!
They don’t have my print anymore but this one is the same style, and it’s on sale for $50! How cute is this top with the ruffles? And this berry colored top would be fab paired with the blazer too. On another note, I’m in love with the print on the dress. I need this for our upcoming vacation!
T by Alexander Wang Ponte Exposed Zip Skirt – on sale
and here in more sizes but not on sale.
Hubs bought me this skirt! I love when he buys me clothes because it’s always stuff that I would never have spotted myself but it always looks good. He has good taste 🙂 Love the skirt, it’s very stretchy and of course, great quality. Adore the T by Alexander Wang line, I own many pieces but they rarely make an appearance on the blog because I usually just wear them to lounge around the house!
Blue tights are totally hard to pull off, but I tried. Probably not going to try again until next year. It’s like a once a year thing to pull out the blue tights just to see what I can do with them.
So similar to mine but LOVE this dark gray. So wish they had them in my size as I would get them in a second. These Miu Miu leather pumps are perfection in a pump! I just ordered them, can’t wait to get them! I know a lot of bloggers love Target shoes and these Mossimo Black Viviana Platform Pumps look cute and are a great price!
Sometimes I’m into the matchy matchy but this day I was into mixing colors and prints but really I just wanted the focus to be on the fun purple skirt! I spotted this cutie skirt in other colors on several other bloggers but didn’t have any luck finding it at the stores until until about a month ago, I walked into a J Crew and saw the very last one in this purple (that I hadn’t seen before) hanging on the sales rack in my size! Meant to be! 🙂 I love the slight sheen to it and the slight poof to the shape. It even has a bit of purple tulle underneath which even if you can’t see it, I still love having it there.
My silk blazer has gotten a lot of use, it’s definitely one of my favorite blazers. I also love the ruffle shoulders of the Juicy Couture Tuxedo Blazer. You also gotta check out this Silk Velvet Blazer, silk velvet sounds odd right? I’m intrigued, it looks so soft. This blush pink blazer is so pretty, I think it’s the perfect color for spring and summer.
J.Crew Crinkled tier mini
I couldn’t find my skirt online anymore but this one is pretty darn cute isn’t it? It’s on sale too!
I also saw the Felted wool mini but didn’t end up getting it. I should though, it’s super cute and now on sale for $39.99. Also adore this gold jacquard mini the color and the pattern are fantastic for a day to night skirt.
Paris Hilton Shoes? Don’t kill me for picking these out but these pumps in pink are really cute! I love the glitter on the platform. These pumps in the deep pink are really similar to mine for $70! I so wish these Sergio Rossi pumps were in my size! Such a pretty color and perfect for the spring.
