Lookbook: Zig Zag

What I’m Wearing
*ShopSosie Dress – I have it in the khaki and black too but now they have lots of new pretty colors, I love the berry!
*Elizabeth and James Blazer – on sale but limited sizes.  I’m stalking this E&J blazer, I really really want it to go on sale.
*Miu Miu Suede Sandals  – got mine last season, this year comes in a gorgeous blue that I’m thinking about getting too.  They are truly one of the most comfortable pair of sandals I own. (I look like I’m slipping out of them because of the dang tights.  I hate how tights make my feet all slippery in shoes!)
*Zara Clutch (Christmas gift from my sister!)
*t+j Designs Gold Drop Luxe Earrings,  Rose Gold Statement Ring and Glam Leatherette Ring

It’s been one of those weeks where I have no idea where the time went.  Crazy busy.  Started out rough but it’s definitely looking up and looking forward to the weekend.  If you’re on my facebook, you may have seen a preview of this outfit.  I wore it on new year’s eve for dinner out and then the best part, champagne and cupcakes before midnight.  I love this dress – so much that I have two, which is rare as I don’t usually buy the same things in different colors – but here’s my dilemma, if I don’t belt it, it’s a tent on me.  If I belt it, it’s waaay too short.  Hence, why I don’t love this outfit but hey I saw way more scandalous outfits on New Year’s Eve.  (why is NYE like Halloween except instead of your sluttiest costume you put on your sluttiest sparkly dress?  haha!)  And then I compensated for the shortness by teasing my hair to make me look taller.  Just kidding!  (sorta) 😉

*Skirt: J Crew (old) – similar sateen skirt
*Tights: DKNY no waistband tights – my favorite!
*Shoes: Miu Miu Platform Pumps – The ones I’m wearing are suede. Similar in suede and not as high.
*Bag: Foley & Corinna Disco City in Rose Nubuck – available in lots of colors and a few colors are on sale.  It comes with a shoulder strap too so you can wear it cross body.  I love this little mini bag, it’s so cute!
*Jewelry: t+j Designs Love and Heart Necklace and Rose Gold Turquoise Cushion Ring – Free shipping on all orders!
*Nail Polish: Julep Anne which came in my latest Julep Maven box and I’ve been wearing it since I got it!  I love the lavender color and don’t have anything else like it.  Remember to enter IAMSTYLEISH to get your first Julep Maven box for $9.99!

I haven’t shot many lookbooks lately.  In between the weather, how dark the day gets and my husband’s schedule, it just hasn’t been happening.  But last week, I was inspired to take a lookbook (mostly because our new collection came in) and I actually took these photos myself using the tripod and remote (major props to all you style bloggers that do this all the time).

If you are wondering, I am not embarrassed easily so I totally didn’t care who saw me.  (I was in an industrial area and I had guys in hard hats walking by and being
funny asking if they could be in the picture :), men siting in their
pickup trucks watching me and construction going on right behind the
wall that my tripod was standing.)  I’ve done self lookbooks outside a few times already and to be honest, I actually think it’s fun.  I wouldn’t do it in a super crowded area but the area I was in was only semi-busy so if you are inspired to shoot self portraits outside but are embarrassed to, just be confident and smile at the people that are looking at you.  You have nothing to be embarrassed about, all you are doing is taking pictures.  I’ve seen much crazier things done in public 🙂  Everyone was super nice to me, some even crossed the street so they wouldn’t be in my picture and I chatted with a few people.   The only factor that has me concerned about doing this often is someone running up and stealing all my camera equipment since I have to be away from the tripod.  (my husband worries about this so he got me worried.)  So that’s why I don’t do it very often but it’s always fun to see the pictures that I shot when I’m done, it’s kind of like a surprise roll of film where you know what’s in the pictures, you just have no idea how they turned out!  It’s definitely not easy and I’m not just randomly shooting as I do have a few tricks that I do to create the kind of pictures that I want, but it’s fun to see if they turn out right.  As long as you have the kind of shot that you want in your head, it’s a lot easier to set up the photos.  Oh and of course, make sure your settings are right.  I shoot on manual 100% of the time even on self portraits and the first thing is I adjust the settings, find my focus point and then base my composition from that.  Anyway, I won’t get into it unless you guys have questions which I’d be happy to answer in the comments, but I’ve heard so many people say that they don’t want to bug their boyfriend/girlfriend/brother/sister/roommate about taking photos for their blog so I’m here to say, go out and do it yourself!  It’s totally possible.  🙂

Lookbook: The quest for pink jeans

Blank_jeans
Blank_jeans3Blank_jeans2Blank_jeans4

What I’m Wearing
*Madewell Soft Silk Boyshirt – as seen in my shopping post.  I went back and got it later.  (sold out online but my store had a ton in stock.  Here’s the item info if you want to call them about it.)  This one in “sleek charcoal” is practically the same.
*BlankNYC Skinny jeans – on sale and Madewell is doing 30% off sale items! (and ebates it to get  4% cashback!)  Get them at a great price!  They are true to size and although they fit fab in the legs and the waist, the crotch part is a little baggy and creates a bit of the “wrinkly crotch” effect.  It’s not uncomfortable but looks a little funny so now I’m mostly wearing them with my shirts untucked.
*t+j Designs Silver Baubles Necklace – one of my favorite necklaces to wear for everyday.  It looks so much better on, I get so many compliments on it whenever I wear it.
*t+j Designs Silver Edge Bangle and Modern 3 Stone Ring  – take 40% off all Sale items!  use code EXTRA40.
*Miu Miu Bow Bag  – I just saw that Valentino’s lower end line RED Valentino has a bunch of cute bow bags!   This is a great size tote, but I’m totally in love with this satchel.  I think I’m going to get it in the nude color.  But after seeing this bow tote, I’m contemplating it as well as I’ve been wanting a navy blue bag.  For leather, it seems like a good price!
*Christian Louboutin Bianca pump – (also in black)  my gray flannel ones were from last year so they don’t have them anymore.  These shoes are one of my top 3 favorite shoes ever.  Every time I wear them, I feel fabulous! 🙂  Thank you to my husband who got them for me, the guy has great taste 😉 If you are thinking about getting the Biancas, one word of caution, they are VERY high and only for the super stable high heel walker.  They can be pretty bad ankle twisters if you aren’t careful!

I have been on a hunt for pink jeans for the longest time.  I started with these cute ones from Zara but they ended up quite mishapen and unsightly to wear (super baggy in weird places) after only 2 wears.  I wanted to invest in a pair like my rag and bone jeans that I adore but I couldn’t find the perfect pink.  UNTIL!  I went to Madewell and fell in love with these BlankNYC skinny jeans.  They are pink but not too pink and look great with so many colors.  I’ve totally embraced the whole colored pant trend.  I did a huge order with J Crew when they were doing 30% off everything.  I opened the box and my husband said “woh, color explosion!”  I ended up getting the toothpick jeans in a bright yellow, the Cafe Capri in warm jade and the Minnie Pant in vibrant flame and a few other things.  Unfortunately as much as I loved all the pants, I had to return two of them for sizing issues.  The Cafe Capri in a 0P was huge and the toothpick jeans in my regular size 25 was a size too big as well.  Not sure what’s going on with J Crew sizing, it’s been wacky lately!  For reference, the Minnie pant in a 0P fit perfectly.

So, where are you guys shopping at?  Any good deals?  Turns out a ton of stuff I ordered during the Christmas sales didn’t work out for me so I had to return a bunch of stuff (and ahem Barney’s canceling my order 17 days after I placed an order for shoes is so annoying.) so I’m itching to score on some deals since most of my stuff didn’t work out!

Two new posts on the smarter blog!  My suggestions for affordable new year’s eve dresses and the best dry skin solutions that I’ve found to help me out in this winter weather.

What I’m Wearing

*Shoes: Miu Miu Leather Platform Pumps – on sale! Cute look for less (under $100)
*Bag: Chanel
*Jewelry: t+j Designs Luxe Mesh and Gold Bangle, Hammered bangles (wearing 2), Glam  Leatherette Ring (on sale for $20!), and  Gold Drop  Luxe Earrings (if you want pretty, sparkly and lightweight earrings, these are it!  I wore these all day long and they didn’t hurt my ears at all.) Use code GIFTS to take 20% off your order.

My husband and I have an annual tradition of where we treat ourselves (TREAT YO SELF – please tell me you watch Parks and Recreation) 🙂 to a nice dinner for the holidays before work, family and friend parties/dinners/get togethers jam pack our schedules.  It’s nice to celebrate the holidays just the two of us.  I love my family and spending the holidays with them but something about celebrating some moments with just my husband really makes it special.  Anyway, it’s completely not necessary to dress up anywhere you go in Seattle, even at the fanciest of restaurants as it is a very casual city.  And although the weather was crappity crap I felt like dressing up to feel a bit pretty that night, so put on a very girly ensemble.  I adore bow tie blouses and this one from ShopSosie is perfect.  I love the light material, the flowy sleeves and of course the bow tie.

I hope you all are enjoying the holiday season!  I’m getting a bit caught up in the stress and excitement of everything so am looking forward to finish wrapping all the gifts and getting a nap or two in and snuggling with my puppies this weekend. 🙂  Happy Friday!

**Despite Monday’s post that I wrote last week, I wore this outfit this weekend so this actually is a recent lookbook! 🙂  Sometimes scheduling my posts ahead contradicts myself.  haha!**

Lookbook: Fall Casual

ASOS_Black_TrenchASOS_Black_Trench2

What I’m Wearing
*Trench Coat: ASOS Classic Trench – great coat but a bit light so great for fall, not so much for winter.  Sizing runs true to size, I’m wearing the size 2 and the shoulders fit very well although the sleeves are long.  I have my eye on this fur lapel trench next.  It looks warm!
*Scarf: Gift from Happy Scarf – Happy Scarf sent me a bunch of scarves and I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve been wearing them every single day.  I love all of the ones they sent me.  The burgundy one I’m wearing is very warm but my favorite one by far is the feather one that you saw on my Flats Collection video.
*Sweater: Vince – Similar here and here. And here’s a striped version.
*Pants: Gap Really Skinny Pant – Get 30% off, use code HOLIDAY.  These are like leggings but thicker so great for these colder months and perfect for tucking into boots.  They run true to size.
*Shoes: Miu Miu Leather Platform Pumps – now on sale!  I love these pumps.  Super comfy and great for work.
*Jewelry: t+j Designs Delicate Link Metal Necklace and Rose Gold Emerald Cut Statement Ring – Take $10 off your order of $50+ with code HOLIDAY1
*Lipstick: YSL Rouge Volupte in #11 Rose Culte
I haven’t taken a lookbook photo in about 3 weeks as it’s been either too dark, too rainy or just plain too cold!  I did take some while the weather was a bit milder so the outfits you’ll be seeing are a bit more fall than winter but just imagine them with boots and that’s basically what I’m wearing now.  I’m sure many of you style bloggers are feeling my pain with the weather hindering our outfit shots.  Am I right? 🙂
Savvy decided she wanted to be in this lookbook because she had a cute coat on.  hehe!  She will literally not go outside without a coat.  She hates the cold!  I think also it’s because she is so close to the ground so that when it’s wet outside her chest gets all gross and yucky.  I feel bad so we stock up on vests/sweaters for her and she’s much happier that way!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Thanks so much for those of you who entered the t+j Designs Style Challenge!  I really loved all of your looks.  I’m catching up on a bunch of stuff so I’ll be putting the post together soon of all the outfits from everyone who participated.  Hopefully will have it up later this week!

*Jeans: J Crew Buy here – I stuck with my regular size
*Shoes: Miu Miu Buy here (cute look for less here and here)
*Bag: Miu Miu Buy here in Caramel (if you are looking for a bigger gray bag, I love this Miu Miu bag also)

Only a few summer lookbooks left and I promise to have fall outfits to post soon! 🙂  Last week, I had drinks with a co-worker that I hadn’t seen since I left that company and it was so nice to catch up with him.  Did you ever see the episode of The King of Queens where Carrie has a “Work Husband” and Doug was so jealous that he made Deacon be his “Work Wife?”  haha!  Well, this co-worker was like my “work husband” and at one point we shared an office and shared many funny stories.  My favorite being when his partner sent him funny/cute balloons for his birthday and the biggest one happened to have a baby Mickey and Minnie Mouse on it (pretty much like this) and people would walk by our office and see the balloons and assume the balloons were for me and exclaim “Oh wow! I had no idea.  Congratulations Tiffany!” and at first I was confused and then I realized what they thought and all throughout the day I was saying “Oh no! I’m not having a baby, it’s his birthday today and those are birthday balloons!”  LOL!

Lookbook: Headband

IMG_0309IMG_0293IMG_0291IMG_0356IMG_0354

I rarely wear my hair completely up but fun hair embellishments like this headband really inspired me to try it out!  Goody sent over a package of cute hair accessories and I had a ball playing with them all.  I normally would not have picked up this headband but I tried it on and really liked the color against my hair.  I ended up putting my hair back in a bun with the spin pins (love them!) and held the rest of my hair back with the cute headband.  I have giant head syndrome though when I wear headbands like this as it kind of gave me a headache after awhile but when I tweeted about my headband aches many of you chimed in with the same thing so I don’t feel so bad!

I ordered this sweater from Forever 21 and it was one of those things that I wanted to return but it was so cheap that it was not worth the hassle of going to the store to return it so I kept it and worked with it.  I liked that it was a short sleeve sweater, since I’m always cold I figured it would be a good top to wear in the Seattle summers where it’s nice but still windy.  The sweater it actually a bit more boxy than I’d like and it doesn’t really work with someone who’s short and apple shaped like I am.  To solve the problem from it making me look even wider in the midsection I added the fitted striped tank underneath to give it some depth and take away from the boxy-ness.  It’s definitely a different look for me as I tend to dress for my body shape – I try to elongate my short midsection – and this outfit was kind of the opposite but I think it still worked and I may not stray from boxy sweaters as I usually do.

I turned the camera around and got a shot of my photographer’s awesome shoes and his little helpers! 🙂

Forever 21 Ultra Relaxed Knit Top

I actually think this one is a cuter shape than mine. I love this coral color and it comes in a pretty yellow too. The Relaxed Scoop Neck Sweater is a slimmer and more fitted. Or you could probably do the same type of look with this Purl Knit Top.

J.Crew Perfect-fit henley tank
Similar and on sale for $14.99!

Also love the Wave Tank with the stripes going at different angles which would look cute underneath a sweater.  Or the Sequin-stripe tank is adorable and on sale for $25!

J Crew Matchstick Jean
J Crew and Madewell denim is pretty on par with each other.  The only difference that I’ve found is that J Crew runs a bit bigger while Madewell is more true to size.  I think this outfit would look cute with the Matchstick Jeans in white too.
Miu Miu Suede Peep Toe Pumps

I’m slightly obsessed with the Miu Miu fall collection and their quirky shaped shoes.  The heel is so weird but cute at the same time!  The same with the Leather platform versions which I’m so tempted to get!  5 inch heel!  I’d be TALL! 🙂  The favorite part of my pumps is the ruffle detailing on the back and the Vince Camuto ‘Momas’ Corset Back Suede Pump is the “look for less” version of my pumps. They pretty much look exactly the same!
It’s not available online but you can find them at Target.
If you are wondering about my jewelry, the necklace is vintage, bracelets by Jewelmint, bangles by J Crew and the watch is Rolex.
