What to buy for out of town guests: Seattle Gift Ideas

One of my favorite things to do for out of town guests is to give them a gift basket of local food and products. Personally when I travel, I love looking for things that are specific to the city as I know I won’t be able to find it anywhere else, so I hope to show my guests all the great things that are made in the Pacific Northwest. And not only that I’m obsessed with all these brands so it’s not that hard to pull together a great basket made up of all my favorite things as well. And my favorite place to shop for all these is Bartell Drugs. I am there at least once a week picking up daily essentials but then when I’m there I love to shop and browse all the great products that they have.

Pacifica is one of my favorite beauty brands. Did you know that they are 100% vegan and cruelty free? I love their makeup but especially love their lotions. All their scents smell amazing, I haven’t found one that I didn’t like. They all make you think of a warm tropical destination. The hand creams were on sale so I may have grabbed a few extra for myself 🙂 But I always have hand cream in my bags so I wanted to make sure that my guests could add it to their bag too. The weather here can be so windy and cold so hands get dry so fast. Moon Valley Organics has really unique products including the lotion bar. it looks like soap but it’s lotion! So it’s an easy and mess free way to use lotion. It’s amazing for cuticles! And I love that all the packaging is recyclable.

The chocolate! You can’t have a Seattle gift basket without some chocolate! Theo and Seattle Chocolates are my favorite chocolates. They not only taste great but have such fun and different flavors. I mean Birthday Cake Batter? Yes, please!

I may be biased but Tim’s is the best chips around. And I’ve tried a lot of chips but nothing compares to the texture and flavor. My favorite flavor of all time is their Jalepeno chips. No other chips even compare. If you love spicy and love jalepeno, you have to give it a try. You will crave them long after you’ve finished the bag! My daughter loves Erin’s popcorn and I love that it’s always easy to get a bag for her at the store and she can munch on it in the car. My husband eyed the Oberto jerky when I brought them home and I had to be clear that those weren’t for him! But yes, even I love the Oberto beef jerky and I should have bought more!

March Beauty Faves

This month’s beauty faves are mostly about the basics. I feel like it’s this time of the year where it’s allergy season and I just don’t want to bother with too much makeup, especially on the eyes (itchy eyes and eyeliner make for a bad combo!)

First off is my absolutely favorite, Murad Invisiblur. If there’s one thing that I worry about is wrinkles and sagging skin. I’m all about products that will help prevent or at least slow down the process. It also has SPF and works as a fantastic primer so I always have it on as the base layer for my makeup.

I love Pacifica. First of all the packaging is always so beautiful and I love that the ingredients are all natural. I’m also a huge fan of beauty product wipes. I use makeup remover wipes every night to get rid of every last bit of makeup on my face. I tried out two of their makeup removing/cleansing wipes and they are great as they feel very “fresh” on the face and both smell really good, however if you are not a fan of the coconut smell I suggest the other fragrances as the Purify wipes was very heavy on the coconut scent. The deodorant wipes seem kind of funny at first but after using them, they are a genius idea! It’s not just for your underarms, I mean after yoga when you need a bit of refresher but don’t have time for a shower, this is an awesome solution and easy to just keep in your bag.

The BB cream is so nice and lightweight. It’s just perfect when you need just a little bit of coverage.

I’ve reviewed the NYX Butter lipsticks before (here) and they are still a favorite. The matte lip cream is a recent fave, I’ve had it for a bit but hadn’t used it until now. It’s a bit of a drier consistency and I love the matte look. I’ve been all about the hot pink lips lately so really loving these colors!

And I had to include this polish just because it’s one of the colors that I always bring out when it starts getting more sunny out. I love wearing pink on my nails during the spring and summer and this one is a pretty neutral pink – it really goes with everything I wear.

Pacifica Roll on Perfume and Mineral Mascara Review

I got a fun package in the mail last week from Pacifica, a brand that I’ve loved for awhile now. When I opened it up I saw this pretty box and got very excited! What can I say, I’m a sucker for packaging!

Tucked inside was some awesome products that I haven’t tried before so I was excited to try them out.

A little while ago my friend told me that her daughter was playing with her makeup and ended up hiding her mascara and since she couldn’t find where her daughter hid it, she had to go without mascara that day. It hit me that that would never happen to me unless my daughter were to hide all 15 of the mascaras I currently own! LOL! I love mascara and never can just have one. I have ones that I use as a base layer and then a top layer, I have ones that are just for volumizing, ones for creating length and ones that do both. I mean I am obsessed! When I saw that they included this mineral mascara, I was very happy to try it out.

One thing that I love about Pacifica is everything is vegan and made with all natural ingredients. I think this might be my first mineral mascara that I’ve tried and it is amazing! It totally gave my lashes volume and I can do 2 or 3 coats but it doesn’t give me clumpy or spidery lashes at all. Love this formula and how pretty is the packaging too.

I’ve actually been a big fan of Pacifica perfumes for a really long time. I buy their solid perfumes to keep in my purse and they are especially handy when flying, since they are a solid you don’t have to worry about the 3 ounce rule or about it spilling in your bag. Most importantly you can use it to freshen up a bit after you land so you don’t smell like the airplane!

In my package were Tuscan Blood Orange, Tahitian Gardenia and Hawaiian Ruby Guava perfumes. The blood orange is my favorite, it’s sweet and fruity without being overpowering and just smells so good! But the others are a close second. I really love their fragrances as they are all very light and airy and can be worn during the day or night. It’s so hard to describe fragrances but my best description is just simply “delicious!” I mean it’s like smelling your favorite flowers or fruits it just smells so good that you almost want to taste it!

These roll on perfumes are perfect to take anywhere as they fit into my handbag without taking up any room (they are about the size of a pen) and in my opinion they seem to last longer than the solid perfumes, so when I’m not traveling I’m taking these everywhere with me! They currently are 15% off and at only $10 each, it’s a good excuse to try out a few of the scents.

I think I’m going to try French Lilac next!
