Playing with Kosas Weightless Lip Color for Fall

Kosas Lipstick Photos

Thanks to Kylie Jenner, the trendiest lip products have been lip pencils and powdery matte colors. I’m happy that we are nixing sticky lip glosses and have worn my favorite MAC lip liner down to a stub to celebrate. Nowadays it takes something really special for me to want a traditional lipstick, but I think that the Kosas Weightless Lip Color gets it right.

Maybe it’s the Instagram-worthy branding of the line. Or maybe it’s the hefty and luxurious packaging. Either way, Kosas is convincing me to put down the matte lipstick and adopt a sheerer lip look this Fall.

Pixi by Petra – Multibalm, Makeup Fixing Mist, Eyeliner Review

Let’s be honest here, I go to Target even when I don’t need to go to Target and then spend WAY too much money there 🙂  I shop for everything there but I always get sucked into the makeup aisles.  I love the Pixi beauty line that they carry there and have tried out a few of their products these past few months.

~ PIXI MULTIBALM ~

This multibalm is absolutely fantastic.  It works amazing as both a blush and a tinted lipbalm.  I’m a huge fan of all the colors although Wild Rose is a fave as it’s a perfectly neutral pink that looks great on the cheek and the lips.  Also the size is perfect to carry around in my bag and I really do carry it everywhere for a quick touch up.  I’m one of those people that look dead without a hint of color on my cheeks so this is perfect for giving me some color throughout the day.

When I do my makeup at home I do like to start out with a powder blush so I tried out this blush duo that comes with a blush and highlighter.  I actually have been using it as a contour/highlight but blended together it creates a really pretty color as well.  It also comes with a little kabuki brush, which I don’t know why but I love kabuki brushes.  I have a small collection of them, they are my favorite for applying powder and an overall highlight.  The Tinted Balm is actually very similar to the multibalm but it’s just for the lips and is very hydrating and when you put it on it’s more of a lipstain so you get a nice color that stays throughout the day.  If you are going to just get one though, I’d recommend the multibalm.  Both are very similar but I love the size of the multibalm and that you can use it as a blush as well.

I’m always on a quest for good eyeliner and I love the felt tip eyeliners as they go on the smoothest and mistake free (for me at least!)  I’ve been able to get all day wear from this eyeliner which is amazing as I seem to smudge my eyeliner without even trying, but this has great staying power with minimal smudging.

~ MAKEUP FIXING MIST ~

And I had to mention the Makeup Fixing Mist as it’s just a must have in your makeup routine.  If you’ve never used a setting mist before, I highly recommend you start. I love that you can use this one to start with as sort of a primer.  I mainly use it as a setting spray after I’ve done my make up to keep it from moving or settling into any fine lines or pores.  It also works great just as a refresher to wake up your face after a long day.

Sleek Makeup Review

I recently got to try out a new to me make up brand, Sleek MakeUP and I had to share as I am truly impressed by the products.   The packaging is very fitting to their name, it is very sleek.  I love the high end look with the drugstore pricing!

These products have all been so great for fall and winter looks.  I’ve been using them a ton!

First off is this gorgeous eye shadow palette.  I’m not one for color on my lids but I actually am loving to change things up.  I use the neutrals all over the lid and then put the color close to my shadow line to treat it like a liner.  The palette is only $11.99 and worth every penny and more!

These cream to powder blushes are so pretty and they go on so smoothly.  You just use your fingertips to apply and it blends so well.

I’ve been such a lipstick girl lately and these lipsticks are a go-to.  So creamy and applies easily.  The colors are all gorgeous on and I love, love the matte formula as it’s not drying at all and stays on for hours.

True Colour Lipstick $7.49
These new products are all about the highlighter/shimmer which I usually leave for the summer but I am having fun with it.  The Barekissed Illuminator is a bit much on it’s own but mixed with my foundation it livens up my skin.  And although I have been more about the matte lips lately, I am a girl who can never resist a little hot pink glitter so of course I love this lipgloss!

Barekissed Illuminator $13.49 // Glitter Me Lipgloss $7.49
This is a great neutrals eyeshadow palette but because it’s all so shimmery I usually use this in combination with the other palette to create a more day to day look for me.  I never knew how much I needed this many shades of gold until I had this palette!  It just goes so well with any other eyeshadow you want to pair it with.

Gold Standard Eyeshadow Palette $11.49

This highlighter palette is pretty amazing.  I love the different textures of the cream and the powder and the different shades.  You can use the cream to make a bit more of highlight on the inner corners of your eyes and on the tops of the cheeks.  They recommend the powder highlighters to use on your body like your shoulders and arms which is a great idea for holiday parties and such.

Solstice Highlighting Palette $14.99

You can buy all their products on their website or at Amazon.  Here’s a few of the ones I mentioned above and a few more that I am wanting to try out!

March Beauty Faves

This month’s beauty faves are mostly about the basics.  I feel like it’s this time of the year where it’s allergy season and I just don’t want to bother with too much makeup, especially on the eyes (itchy eyes and eyeliner make for a bad combo!)

First off is my absolutely favorite, Murad Invisiblur.  If there’s one thing that I worry about is wrinkles and sagging skin.  I’m all about products that will help prevent or at least slow down the process.  It also has SPF and works as a fantastic primer so I always have it on as the base layer for my makeup.

I love Pacifica.  First of all the packaging is always so beautiful and I love that the ingredients are all natural.  I’m also a huge fan of beauty product wipes.  I use makeup remover wipes every night to get rid of every last bit of makeup on my face.  I tried out two of their makeup removing/cleansing wipes and they are great as they feel very “fresh” on the face and both smell really good, however if you are not a fan of the coconut smell I suggest the other fragrances as the Purify wipes was very heavy on the coconut scent.  The deodorant wipes seem kind of funny at first but after using them, they are a genius idea!  It’s not just for your underarms, I mean after yoga when you need a bit of refresher but don’t have time for a shower, this is an awesome solution and easy to just keep in your bag.

The BB cream is so nice and lightweight.  It’s just perfect when you need just a little bit of coverage.

I’ve reviewed the NYX Butter lipsticks before (here) and they are still a favorite.  The matte lip cream is a recent fave, I’ve had it for a bit but hadn’t used it until now.  It’s a bit of a drier consistency and I love the matte look.  I’ve been all about the hot pink lips lately so really loving these colors!

And I had to include this polish just because it’s one of the colors that I always bring out when it starts getting more sunny out.  I love wearing pink on my nails during the spring and summer and this one is a pretty neutral pink – it really goes with everything I wear.

February Beauty Faves: Lipsticks, Blushes and more!

Just a quick round up of my beauty faves! February went by so fast right?  Here are some of my favorite buys for this month and some that I picked up specifically for spring and the changing weather.

I picked up a few things from Pur Minerals as I’ve tried their foundation (that I love) but haven’t yet tried their makeup.  Just the perfect things for everyday wear.  A pretty pink blush and lips that aren’t too bright but just enough color.  So far loving all of these.  The color payoff for the blush is fab and can be blended pretty easily.  The lipstick goes on very smoothly and is not drying at all and the gloss is a perfect complement to the lipstick and not sticky.

Get them all at Ulta (I love shopping there) or at Pur Minerals where they are currently running 20% off everything!

I love Murad’s skincare line and when I saw the Rapid Collagen Infusion for Lips, I had to try it out. I worry about my skin as I get older and hate to see fine lines anywhere.  This is supposed to help take care of that can be worn by itself or underneath lip color and other makeup products (or as a lipstick primer!) and can be applied both on and around the mouth area.  It’s actually a great base for lipstick, I think it helps make it last a bit longer!  The Soothing Skin and Lip Care I use as a lip balm and this is my 2nd tube of it, it’s one of my favorite lip balms I own and that’s saying a lot as I’ve owned a lot!  It’s not too greasy, the tube dispenses just the right amount and it leaves my lips smooth and soft.  Definitely one of my favorite makeup basics that I always have to have on me.

My obsession with Milani continues!  I grabbed another color of these blushes and lipsticks (review here)

Milani Color Statement Lipstick (Matte Passion and Matte Orchid)
Milani Rose Powder Blush (Romantic Rose)
The other color I have is Tea Rose which I got a few months ago and has been one of my most used blushes so I had to pick up another color as well.  And I love the rose design!

A few months ago the Clinique team invited me to a fabulous little get together so that they could show us some new products as well as some best sellers and so we could speak to the team personally about each of the products.  It was amazing to get a private showing of all the fabulous products that Clinique carries!  I haven’t broken out all of the products that I was gifted with until now and I love this set of Chubby Sticks.  I never thought of using a blush in stick form but I really do like it.  It’s easy to put on, very blendable and I think because of the cream consistency it ends up lasting longer than powder blushes.  I like it more as a base and put powder blush over so that my blush ends up lasting all day.  The shadow stick is great as an eyeshadow base with a pretty shimmery color and the baby tint is like a lip balm with a bit of color.

A product that I am absolutely loving is the Clinique Smart Serum.  I’ve been using this for the past few months and have seen a huge difference in the fine lines around my eyes and just generally around my face.  I don’t think I can live without this product now!  It is now one of my skincare essentials.

Lipstick Queen Bete Noir and Queen Bee

I think I mentioned this before but I’m on a lipstick kick so I’ve been trying out all sorts of new lipsticks.  I’ve wanted to try out Lipstick Queen forever as I’ve heard a lot about the line and I’ve always loved the name and the pretty packaging, I just haven’t had a chance to until now!

This is the “Bete Noire” collection and the colors are a lovely deep “black cherry” shades.  Possessed Sheer on the bottom and Possessed Metal on the top.  Now I
typically go for the nudes or the pinks so this is quite a different
look for me but I thought it was quite the appropriate color to wear
during the winter while it is still so cold.  I been gravitating towards
all black in my wardrobe lately so I’m loving the darker lip paired
with the look.
The color of these lipsticks are not just beautiful in the tube they are just as gorgeous on.  I also love the formula, for Possessed Metal, it’s very smooth going on but then it slighlty dries to your lip (but not in a bad – I need chapstick kind of way) so that the color stays to your lips and lasts for hours.  Possessed Metal has a very pretty metallic gold to it so that when it catches the light it gives your lips a bit of a different shade.  Posessed Sheer is a much more lightweight lipstick, it goes on very smooth and creamy and very easy to layer.
I take weird lip selfies so I don’t have any photos of it on me but I grabbed this from Ulta’s website and the colors are very true to this on me as well.

I also tried out Queen Bee which is a lip treatment.  Kinda like a super amped up chapstick.   It’s enriched with Royal Jelly and contains chamomile and sunflower to help soothe chapped lips.  This is now permanently part of my handbag essentials, I have to carry it with me everywhere.  The best part (I think) is that it’s a bit of a gold shimmer so even when you are not wearing lipstick and just need this to help with your chapped lips you’ll get a pretty shimmer to your lips!

(If you are wondering I got two Possessed Sheers, I didn’t try Possessed Intense hence why there’s no review on that color)

You can get the Bete Noir lipsticks at LipstickQueen and Ulta and Queen Bee at LipstickQueen and Space NK

NYX Butter Lipstick and L’oreal Colour Riche Lip Balm Review and Swatches

When I’m at the drugstore I can’t help but browse the makeup aisle and always end up finding something I have to try.  Of course the sales always help and inevitably the buy one get one 50% off always gets me.  I’ve been trying out new lipsticks so just wanted to share my haul and review.

http://rstyle.me/~2XupF

I was a huge fan of Revlon Lip Butters when they first came out so when I spotted the NYX Butter line I had to try them out.  I’ve actually been using the NYX Butter Lipstick for a little bit now and I am addicted.  I had two colors before and tried out two more colors and just love all of them. They go on so smooth and are moisturizing like a lip balm but the color pay off is really nice.  It’s the best of both worlds with a lipstick and a lip balm combined into one.  Compared to the Lip Butters, the color payoff is better and they go on smoother.

http://rstyle.me/~2XupF
You can see the color is pretty true to what’s in the tube.  This was about 2 swipes to get this color which is great for a lip balm type of lipstick.

http://rstyle.me/~2XupF

The colors I use the most are Taffy, the brighter pink and Snow Cap, which is the perfect nude for my skin tone (I actually bought two so I could keep one in my purse and one in my makeup drawer).  They run about $5.99 which I think is a fab price for what you get.  There’s a few bright shades that I want to try out but I tend to just stay with the pinks and nudes for every day wear.

http://rstyle.me/~2XupF
When I saw that the L’Oreal Colour Riche Lip Balm was on sale I wanted to try it out as I thought from the name it might be similar to the NYX Butter Lipsticks.  They are similar in that these are very moisturizing but the color payoff is very light and sheer.

These were $7.99, so a bit more than the NYX lipsticks but still inexpensive enough just to try out.  I would definitely call these more of a tint than a lipstick.  But I gotta admit, the packaging is what got me, I love the gold!

I had to swipe several times to get even this little bit of color to show up so you can imagine it’s even harder to see on the lips.  I still prefer the NYX lipsticks but if you are looking for something that’s more sheer, these are a great option.  I like to keep a sheer option in my purse for those times where you don’t want too much color on your lips so this is a great one to just always keep in there.
