Chic ways to organize your makeup and declutter your counter

5 simple ideas to organize your makeup
If your bathroom looks anything like mine, you are probably needing some ideas on how to organize your makeup! I’m a bit of a product hoarder and I like to have all my products out so I can see them.  I finally got around to organizing so I had to share these 5 chic and simple ways to organize your makeup and declutter your bathroom.

USING WIRE BASKETS

Wire baskets to hold your eyeshadow palettes?  Genius!  I love that it looks cute and you can see them easily.

I also love this idea of hanging them on the wall so that your counter top doesn’t get so cluttered!

REPURPOSING MASON JARS

What a cute DIY Idea to organize your brushes.  Get these mason jars and paint them up!  Or you can even glitter them like I’ve done before (check out my DIY post here) Of course you can always head over to etsy or Amazon for some pre-painted ones.

COFFEE MUGS FOR STORAGE

Another easy way is just to use your cute mugs!  My husband makes fun of me for how much I love mugs with funny sayings 🙂  I just can’t help it!  I love my coffee and I love my mugs.  But I only have so much room in my kitchen for mugs so I like that I can still buy them to store other things.

I actually was thinking wine glasses would be cute storage too.  Of course you don’t want to be too rough on them but it would be super cute to keep your lipglosses or mascara in them.

ACRYLIC MAKEUP HOLDERS

I’m sure you’ve seen these acrylic makeup holders everywhere.  I have a few of my own.  I bought one of the more high end ones that are larger with a few drawers and made out of a heavy acrylic (like this) which I love but recently I wanted one just to hold my lipsticks and didn’t want to pay a ton.  I bought this one on Amazon and it’s great quality and under $26!  I’m really loving this one that can even hold your beauty blenders.

VINTAGE OR NEW CAKE STANDS

And lastly, I love this cute idea on storing/displaying your nail polish!  I have my nail polish in a box and I always have to dump it out just to look at all the colors.  I love the nail polish on a cake stand, then you can just find what you need!

Pixi by Petra – Multibalm, Makeup Fixing Mist, Eyeliner Review

Let’s be honest here, I go to Target even when I don’t need to go to Target and then spend WAY too much money there 🙂  I shop for everything there but I always get sucked into the makeup aisles.  I love the Pixi beauty line that they carry there and have tried out a few of their products these past few months.

~ PIXI MULTIBALM ~

This multibalm is absolutely fantastic.  It works amazing as both a blush and a tinted lipbalm.  I’m a huge fan of all the colors although Wild Rose is a fave as it’s a perfectly neutral pink that looks great on the cheek and the lips.  Also the size is perfect to carry around in my bag and I really do carry it everywhere for a quick touch up.  I’m one of those people that look dead without a hint of color on my cheeks so this is perfect for giving me some color throughout the day.

When I do my makeup at home I do like to start out with a powder blush so I tried out this blush duo that comes with a blush and highlighter.  I actually have been using it as a contour/highlight but blended together it creates a really pretty color as well.  It also comes with a little kabuki brush, which I don’t know why but I love kabuki brushes.  I have a small collection of them, they are my favorite for applying powder and an overall highlight.  The Tinted Balm is actually very similar to the multibalm but it’s just for the lips and is very hydrating and when you put it on it’s more of a lipstain so you get a nice color that stays throughout the day.  If you are going to just get one though, I’d recommend the multibalm.  Both are very similar but I love the size of the multibalm and that you can use it as a blush as well.

I’m always on a quest for good eyeliner and I love the felt tip eyeliners as they go on the smoothest and mistake free (for me at least!)  I’ve been able to get all day wear from this eyeliner which is amazing as I seem to smudge my eyeliner without even trying, but this has great staying power with minimal smudging.

~ MAKEUP FIXING MIST ~

And I had to mention the Makeup Fixing Mist as it’s just a must have in your makeup routine.  If you’ve never used a setting mist before, I highly recommend you start. I love that you can use this one to start with as sort of a primer.  I mainly use it as a setting spray after I’ve done my make up to keep it from moving or settling into any fine lines or pores.  It also works great just as a refresher to wake up your face after a long day.

May Favorite Beauty Products

Just a few things that I discovered last month that I’m loving!  Here’s a few that I reviewed, click through to see the rest!

I’ve used It Cosmetics before and I always liked their products and decided to try out a few more and now they are part of my daily makeup routine.

It Cosmetics
Bye By Under Eye – if you have dark circles, you NEED this.  No joke, it’s the best under eye concealer I’ve ever used.
Your Skin but Better CC Cream -This is such a great product for the warmer months when I’m not wearing as much makeup. It’s got SPF 50 so I don’t even have to layer another sunscreen when I’m wearing this.  The coverage is nice and lightweight.
Superhero Voluminizing Mascara – I’m usually skeptical with “voluminizing” claims as I’ve tried so many but honestly this mascara makes my lashes look so long!  I’m so impressed with it.
Brow Power Eyebrow Pencil – I typically use a brow powder but because I’ve been traveling so much, it’s just been easier to bring brow pencils and this one is great because it’s got the pencil on one end the eyebrow brush on the other so I don’t have to bring an extra tool.
Bye Bye Pores Anti Aging Micro Powder – I only recently started using micro powders so this is the 2nd one that I’ve used but now I can’t do my make up without them.  I think it just sets my make up so well and I can tell that it lasts a lot longer just by applying this after I’m done putting on my makeup.

This blush from Becca is so pretty on.  The color payoff is great and it goes on exactly what you see in the pan.  I love the shimmery pinks and the tan/bronzer colors are so great to accentuate your tan.  These are some of the prettiest blushes that I have used!  I also love the packaging, it fits in perfectly into my makeup bag, I carry one around with me all the time for a quick touch up throughout the day.
BECCA LUMINOUS BLUSH
BLUSHED COPPER TIGERLILY DAHLIA
CAMELLIA SNAPDRAGON

I have never heard of Hair Recipes before but I love that it used eggs in it!  I’ve heard of eggs being great for your hair but haven’t actually seen a shampoo with it.  The egg and cognac shampoo is for dull and tired hair and is supposed to add energy and shine.  I like that it’s a nice lightweight shampoo and conditioner and I think it has given my hair a bit of life and shine.

I did think it was interesting as they gave you this try at home recipe with an actual egg.  I haven’t tried it yet but I am planning on it!

INGREDIENTS:
1 raw egg & 2 to 3 tablespoon Hair Recipes Argan Oil (depending on length of your hair).
 INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix raw egg & Argan Oil in bowl. Massage into wet scalp and hair. Wait 4 to 5 minutes. Rinse with cool water. Hot water will scramble the egg and it will be hard to remove. Repeat rinse with warm water. Shampoo with Hair Recipes Egg & Cognac shampoo and again rinse with warm water. Egg adds vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids to the hair. Repeat after every 6 to 8 shampoo washes.

I’m typically into bright colors for my nails but was drawn to these pretty blues from Pacifica.  I always love Pacifica products as all their products are 100% Vegan and cruelty free.  Plus, their packaging is always so pretty!

I LOVE these semi-matte lipsticks from Sleek Makeup.  They are super creamy going on and non drying.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation Review

Ever since I started using the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation there hasn’t been a day since I haven’t used it.  I didn’t love foundation before but as I get older, the more I find I want to cover up my dark spots and needing to even out my skintone.  I love this foundation as it gives really good coverage but it’s also really lightweight and easily blendable with my skin.

I
use it with this foundation brush and I find that it stays on all day.
I also use the lightest shade to dab on as a concealer for any darker
spots that I have.

I was able to test out a few colors to see what worked best for my skintone and actually I’ve been mixing two of them to get the best color.  However they have a huge range of colors for every skintone.  I also got a deeper shade so I will be prepped this summer when I have a bit of color on my face.
Here’s some products that I use daily.

And my favorite products for a night out!

Urban Decay Haul – Glitter Eyeliner, Moondust Shadow, Lashes

I have been a fan of Urban Decay forever and mostly stuck with their palettes (see my NAKED Smoky palette review here) and their eyeliners (this one has been a staple for years) but I recently tried out their single shadows, glitter eyeliners and false lashes so wanted to do a review!

The thing that I love most about Urban Decay is whatever you see in the pot is exactly the color that comes out.  I typically am not about the sparkle/glitter eyeshadow but these sparkle in a very good not teeny bopper kind of way.  I got a lot of fun colors but these are my favorite.  Another thing that I never thought about as I am usually a palette girl but having these as singles are so good to just pop in my travel makeup bag and bring along just a few colors that I know I can use every day.

COSMIC // MOONSPOON // DARK FORCE
INTERGALACTIC // SOLSTICE // INTERSTELLAR

These glitter eyeliners are not everyday wear for me but they are so much fun for date night or girl’s night out.  They look like a lot in the bottle but just a slight line gives your eyes just the right amount of glitter! Paired with the moondust eyeshadows it’s so gorgeous!

I have to share this tutorial where she used the Heavy Metal liner all over the lid to create an a super glittery, pretty eye look.  It’s one of my favorite looks, I want to try it out for my next girl’s night out.

And I’ve learned that I can’t do my make up without these essentials.  The Makeup Setting Spray is so awesome.  I spray it on after all my makeup is done and my makeup stays on all day.  I usually don’t care about my makeup after I get home from work but I love that it helps keep everything in place even until the evening.  The Subversion Lash Primer is great not just for keeping my mascara from getting all over the bottom of my eyes (my biggest pet peeve!) but it also is a great bottom coat to make my lashes look thicker after applying a few coats of mascara.  I’ve used the Eyeshadow Primer Potion for years but I started using it when it was in that hard plastic bottle that you had to cut open just to get the most out of it!  I love this new packaging and also this one that applies as a pretty champagne shimmer which is such a great base for all eyeshadow.

I forgot to take a picture of the lashes individually but I love all the different flares and fullness of the lashes.  They are super comfortable on.  My favorite is that they have partial lashes.  I usually cut my false lashes as my eyes are small and also I don’t wear the full strip lashes as much these days so I love that these are already cut and fit my eyes perfectly!
