You’ve seen this look before here and here, but I had to do a lookbook on it as it is one of my favorite dresses.
What I’m Wearing: Dress: Iisli Shoes: Gucci
I usually stray from wearing gold as it doesn’t go with my skin tone but the pleats of this dress were too hard to resist so I had to buy it. The material is a soft knit with a bit of a sparkle to it. I had to wear the Gucci’s because the gold bow on the shoes gave the outfit the right touch. Isn’t that back so pretty? Just love how well they did the pleating on the dress.
I bought my dress at Nordstrom last December for a Christmas party but I saw that Gilt had an Iisli sale yesterday and they were selling my dress for $138! I have to say though, it’s not as cute on the model.
The one problem I had with the dress is that it’s very low cut and if you have any kind of boobs it is a bit scandalous. I had to pin mine at the bust to keep it closed.
Iisli makes the perfect party dresses. Love these dresses from their latest collection.

I think that J and I are fortunate that we have the same taste in home decor. There is never any fighting over what kind of lamps or couch or wall decor. We pretty much agree on everything. We have pretty simple modern decor at our place but the one eyesore of the whole place was the dang dog bed. It is, of course a necessity, but no matter what kind of dog bed we bought, it just turned into a messy looking dog area. It bugged us. A lot. So we did something about it.
I’ve seen “modern” dog furniture online but everything was over $1000. I mean seriously? I love my dogs and everything but there is no way I would buy something that pricey for my dog who would probably chew the corners. J, being the genius designer he is, drafted up a brilliant plan for a dog bed using tables. When we were at Ikea picking out the tables, I noticed that they have really great looking fabric and so we ended up buying some and then we were in the dog section and found a dog bed that would fit perfectly within the space.
I’m always a bit wary of DIY projects because you know how sometimes you can have this fabulous idea in your head but when it comes out it is nowhere near as fabulous? Well, this project actually turned out just as fabulous. Maybe even better.
I present to you, our DIY modern dog bed…
It is basically two tables stuck together. Do not ask me about how it was assembled as I don’t go anywhere near power tools, actually any kind of tools. J handled that part. I however, took the ugly dog bed (which was covered in black and white spots) and covered it with the fabric. I then took one of their favorite blankets and sewed the fabric on top so that underneath is their favorite plushy furry fabric that they can snuggle under. I found a little pillow in our closet and sewed up a pillow case just for a laugh. I like that it makes it look like a human bed.
And here are our babies enjoying their new bed!
An added bonus of this is that we now have an extra table to put things on! Most of our furniture is that dark wood so it blends in well with everything.
So there you go! Who knew Ikea sold modern dog furniture right? 😉 All it took was some creativity and now the dog area actually matches the rest of our place.
I have to mention that painting on the table. We were in the Fremont neighborhood and stopped in the Orange Splot art gallery. We ended up loving these paintings by Ryan Henry Ward and J bought one for us. Later on we found out that he’s doing murals all over Seattle (for free) and we have been going around the city hunting for them. They are incredible pieces of art and it is so cool that he is brightening up the city with his artwork. Click here to read more.
p.s. I know it looks weird that there’s just that one picture of J above the dog bed, but the rest of the pictures on that wall are individual pictures as well so it looks good when you see the entire thing. J is not THAT vain that he would have a picture of just him hanging up. haha!
Soooo… since it is almost my birthday I decided it would be okay to reveal what J got me for me.
J has always been an excellent gift giver so I don’t tend to pick out my own presents as I’m usually happy with what he picks out. He already had an idea of what he wanted to get me and yes, it was an LV bag but he told me that we should just look while we were in Portland. Turns out, I ended up getting what he wanted to get me anyway. Here it is!!
The Monogram Neverfull
I’ve got such a thing for big bags and I really wanted something that I could take to work, fit all my documents and my laptop and also be able to travel with. This ended up fitting perfectly and I’m totally happy! You can cinch up the sides and it makes it into a smaller bag which is nice when I’m not carrying that much stuff.
If you are wondering, this is the MM size. I knew for sure that PM would be too small so I didn’t even bother trying it out. I debated between the GM and the MM for awhile but decided that the GM was just too big.
J also ended up getting something for himself…
check it out, the new Damier Graphite. Soooo pretty!
J hates carrying too much stuff in his pockets so he’s always carried a slim wallet. I’m in love with the dark grey. I wish they made this color for the womens line.
We will be celebrating my official birthday this weekend so expect some wild antics to come! HA! just kidding. just a low key birthday for me. I think I’ll have a big blowout for when I hit 30, but this year, will just be a night out with my new husband.
I have a serious collection of blazers. There are just so many ways to wear them. This white one is one of my favorites. It’s a silk/satin material and is super comfortable. I bought it ages ago on a trip to LA with one of my best girlies and it’s the one thing out of the major shopping we did that I have not donated or given away.
I did the hair braid thing again but this time I didn’t pin it back. Didn’t need it to look too structured for the weekend, you know. Just let it flow into my hair.
You previously saw this outfit when I kicked J in the head 🙂 I love the grafitti wall so thought I’d post some as my “Urban” lookbook pics. ha.
J makes fun of my cheesy grin so I try to mix things up and make funny faces. I read somewhere that the Olsen Twins say the word “prune” when they get their picture taken. Makes sense to me, how else do they get those perfect pouty lips. I tried that technique and this is what I looked like. Hmm… need more practice.
About this collage; apparently J didn’t think it was “urban” enough. I opened my email to find my collage had been tampered with and then renamed to “Tiffiti”.
Oh the things he does. Makes me laugh.

I’ve been checking out the fall/winter collections and am dying to get so many things. I thought I’d pull out a look from last winter. Here I am on my way to a business meeting in London.
What I’m wearing: Coat: Zara Dress: Mango Tights: DKNY Shoes: Jimmy Choo Bag: Louis Vuitton
The jacket was a last minute buy when I was in New York prior to the flying over to London, turns out it was an excellent purchase as it was a lot colder in London that week than I had expected! The dress is the same one in my Working Girl lookbook. Just goes to show how you can take one dress and wear it from summer to winter.
It’s funny seeing me with that LV bag as I don’t think I’ve carried it since that trip. I’ve become such a BIG bag kinda girl that I don’t even bother with my smaller bags. That being said, I still love it. It really went well with that outfit.
The office we were meeting at was right next to the Tower of London. They took us out on their deck and I got some pictures of their view. Can you imagine looking out of your office and seeing that everyday?
So you know once you buy your dress, you pretty much stop looking? Well, that was me. Same with my shoes. I’ve been buying shoes likecrazy but not looking for wedding shoes. And then I stumbled upon these lovelies on Lovely Morning. And I am torn.
First of all, I really wanted to say thank you for all my readers and commenters leaving me such sweet comments about us getting married and our ceremony. I haven’t had time to comment back like I usually do but I appreciate every one of your comments! Several of you have asked about the dress so of course I had to do a lookbook on what we wore.
I literally bought this dress about 2 hours before we headed to the courthouse. I had ordered a dress from Shopbop.com that I thought would work, but it didn’t. It also didn’t arrive until the day before, so my only choice was to go shopping the day of. We went to every single store/boutique that downtown had to offer and ended up loving this one the most.
What I’m Wearing: Dress: BCBG Shoes: Gucci
What He’s Wearing: Suit: Banana Republic Shirt: Lova Shoes: Hugo Boss
J bought this suit just a few days before so we were both sporting brand new duds. (Can you expect anything less from us?) I went into a frenzy trying to find sliver shoes to go with this dress until it hit me that my Gucci’s that I was saving for our wedding were sitting in my closet. Well, I was going to get married that day, so why not break them out! They have such pretty rhinestones that glittered in the sunlight.
Doesn’t J look great in his Lova shirt that I had posted about previously? We recently made a change and bought him a new shirt to wear to the wedding in Jamaica so he decided to wear this one for the ceremony. It looked so great with his new suit.
I kept the jewelry simple and clean, with sparkly bangles, a cocktail ring and hoop earrings.
I thought about pulling my hair back with a flower or some kind of embellishment but decided that it just wasn’t me and didn’t want to not look like me on the day we got married.
I had my brother take pictures of us and then I noticed that he wasn’t capturing our shoes so I yelled at him to make sure that he got them. J decided to be funny and really make sure that you could see my shoes.
This was taken on the deck of the courthouse that I mentioned previously. You can’t see the view but the deck is huge, isn’t it?
So that, my friends is what we wore to get legally married. It was basically like what we are going to wear to our wedding but just toned down.
Oh and Miss Burb brought up a good point about what we are actually celebrating as our anniversary. I told J that he better buy a good calendar because he’s going to have to remember 3 anniversaries. Our ceremony, our wedding and our first date. HA! Like that’s going to happen. I think that we are just going to go with the ceremony date as our anniversary since this is when we really became husband and wife. How did you/are you going to do it? Did you all forego the “first date” anniversary? I think eventually we will but I can’t let it go now. How could we? We’ve celebrated it for the past 7 years!
