I recently got my hair cut at Gene Juarez and I love my hair and the whole salon experience there. I’m not revealing my new hair yet as today’s post is about my mom! I treated my mom for mother’s day to a cut and hair treatment. She just got it done and looks so cute, I had to show it off!
We both went in for the Kerastase Rejuvenation Conditioning Treatment which basically brings life back to your hair. My mom has had years of dying her hair so it’s a bit more weak and brittle and I felt like it would be great for her hair. She really enjoyed the treatment and since I did it myself as well, I highly recommend it!

And here’s my mom’s before and after! Doesn’t she look so cute with her new hair? I love that she didn’t cut off too much but the layers and volume really go well with her face.
My mom is the cutest, she loves social media, especially snapchat and always sends me the cutest snaps. When she watches my daughter, they post the funniest snapchats! Anyway, here’s a cute snap she sent me later on. I just love the layers in the front. Her hair looks so good!

Another easy way is just to use your cute mugs!  My husband makes fun of me for how much I love mugs with funny sayings 🙂  I just can’t help it!  I love my coffee and I love my mugs.  But I only have so much room in my kitchen for mugs so I like that I can still buy them to store other things.
I actually was thinking wine glasses would be cute storage too. Â Of course you don’t want to be too rough on them but it would be super cute to keep your lipglosses or mascara in them.

I’m sure you’ve seen these acrylic makeup holders everywhere. Â I have a few of my own. Â I bought one of the more high end ones that are larger with a few drawers and made out of a heavy acrylic (like this) which I love but recently I wanted one just to hold my lipsticks and didn’t want to pay a ton. Â I bought this one on Amazon and it’s great quality and under $26! Â I’m really loving this one that can even hold your beauty blenders.

I’ve been trying out products from Derma E and wanted to share a few reviews of the products I’m really loving for my skin.
YOUTH SERUM: This is a really great mineral rich treatment that uses natural ingredients to protect skin against environmental pollutants. It’s a nice lightweight serum that you can wear underneath your makeup. I really love having something like this when I’m out and about all day and know that my skin can be protected. VITAMIN C SERUM: I am a big fan of using Vitamin C products to help brighten my skin and smooth out uneven skin tones. This one goes on smooth and absorbs into the skin quickly. I use it as my step right before I put on my moisturizer. CHARCOAL MASK: I think this is my third tube of this stuff, it’s my favorite mask by far. Not only does it get all the gross stuff out of your pores, it also exfoliates your skin when you remove it. My skin always feels so good afterwards. RENEWING MOISTURIZER: This works similar to the serum but is also a great moisturizer. I use them both daily.

MARC JACOBS LIPSTICK SET MARC JACOBS MASCARA
I adore Marc Jacobs Beauty! Not only are the products great, the packaging is so pretty! Marc Jacobs sent over these gorgeous colored mascaras and I’ll admit I’m not one to be too creative with my makeup so I’ve never tried colored mascara before but I have been having fun with these and honestly they are so subtle that you really only see it in certain lights but it really enhances your eyes.
How cute are these mini lipsticks? I love the pink case that they come in and it makes for such a good gift! Oh and it’s on sale now which makes it such a good deal! I love all the colors that come in the set and I think it would work for any skin tones. Also check out the Face and Eye palette that’s on sale too!

I got the most amazing package from Maybelline to try out quite a few of their products. I’ve been going crazy trying them all (crazy good, I love trying out new makeup!)
My favorites: Dream Cushion Foundation – this foundation has such good coverage and I love the “cushion” to get the product out. So easy to use and it last all day. Big Shot Mascara – I’ve always been a fan of Maybelline mascara, they make the best mascara, hands down. This new mascara gives me such full lashes! I absolutely love and recommend it. I have the worst luck with mascara when it comes to flaking or leaving racoon eyes. I think it’s just the way my eyes are shaped and my under eyes can be a little oily so makeup tends to smear but this mascara has been holding up all day. I’m so impressed with it! Brow Highlighter – In case you missed it, I recently posted my microblading experience on my youtube channel. If you don’t know what microblading is, it’s basically permanent eyebrows! It’s pretty amazing as they tattoo on strokes of ‘hair’ so that it looks like the real thing. I’m super happy I did it and love waking up to perfect brows every day 🙂 Anyway, I don’t add any additional make up to my eyebrows anymore but I love using this highlighter to apply right underneath the brow bone to enhance them even more. Eyeshadows – I haven’t been able to use all the colors but I have to say that the ones that I’ve been using I’m very impressed by the color payoff and the range of colors. It promises 14 hour wear and I do agree that it has super long lasting powers! Best of all these are only $3.99 each!
And let’s just talk about these Matte lipsticks as they are one of the best lipsticks I’ve ever used. I’ve been really into matte lips lately and so am always on the hunt for matte lipsticks that are not too drying. These are so creamy and look so pretty on. The color is very true to what is in the tube. I love all of these nude tones too.
This last thing was something that I’ve been wanting to try for awhile. Have you heard of bubble masks? Basically you put on the masks and then it starts to bubble up as it removes dirt and cleans your pores! I love it! One warning, it totally tickles as it bubbles up but so worth it as my skin feels so good afterwards. I use the bubble mask once a week to really clean my face. When I want an extra bit of moisture I use the Hydrating Gel Mask. It’s very cooling and feels great when it’s on and definitely give my skin the much needed moisture during these cold winter months. Oh and the pore refining mask and brush tool is the tool that you didn’t know you needed! I love using it to apply my masks and not worry about any extra dirt or oil from my finger tips. It’s only $5 and much needed in your skincare bag!
If you follow me on instagram you may have seen my insta-stories while I was at Gary Manuel last week getting my hair done! If you don’t know what balayage is, here’s the definition: a technique for highlighting the hair in which the dye is painted
on in such a way as to create a graduated, natural-looking effect.
Before I got this done I spent a lot of time googling “Asian Balayage” because I wanted to make sure that I liked the look and to have a specific look in mind to let them know what I was looking for. I always recommend doing that when you are doing any sort of treatment/change to your hair just so you know what you like before you actually go in and get it done. I really liked it because it gives it such a pretty ombre and a natural “sunkissed” look. The best part about balayage is that unlike highlights, when it grows out, it’s barely noticeable since you aren’t dying the top part of your hair. When it grows out, it just looks very natural. My previous balayage was fine but it had been about 6 months so I was ready for some more color.
Derik, my stylist, was amazing. He really took the time to figure out what I wanted and made it happen exactly as how I asked. And not only that he was just so nice and friendly. You know how sometimes when you go to a stylist you’ve never worked with before and you can either awkwardly talk about the weather or it’s just silence? It wasn’t like that at all. He was just so warm and friendly, I had such a great time the whole time I was there. His intern was working on my hair as well and she was just so sweet. I really appreciate it as I’ve been to so many of these “fancy” salons and haven’t had the best experiences with the people working there but when you are spending so much time there it’s really important to enjoy the atmosphere while you are there!
Anyway, back to the hair. So, I wanted to go a bit lighter than my previous balayage and we talked about if I wanted a more warm or more cool look to the color. I didn’t end up getting a cut, which I should have seeing as the ends of my hair are kind of dead but I will be back for that on another day. The not so great part about balayage is that it takes awhile, I was at the salon for a little over 3 hours. But I’m not complaining, it was so worth it! They only use Aveda products at the salon and what I love is that Aveda color is 96% naturally derived, so it’s not just a bunch of chemicals that will damage your hair. I’m such a fan of Aveda products and all of my favorite hair products that I currently use are Aveda.
When I sat down in the chair and we were going over what I wanted I told Derik that when I left the house I joked with my husband that I’d be back with pink hair. Derik took one look at me and said “Want to do it?” I didn’t plan for it but I’ve always really wanted colorful hair and never had the nerve to do it so I said yes and he made a plan for it! He kept it in the back underneath my hair so it’s hidden but I have to tell you that I really, really love it. I love seeing the peek of it and now I often wear my hair half up just so you can see it more. It’s so much fun and my daughter is in love with it, she always asks to see mommy’s pink hair.

Look at all the Aveda products! They have everything! And if you know Aveda, you know that everything smells so good so the moment you step in the salon it just smells amazing! I totally forgot to ask what products they used on my hair but I have quite a few of their products at home and I’m currently loving their Smooth Infusion (so great as a prep for styling your hair), the Split End Repair (much needed!) and the Shampure Dry Shampoo.
They even have a photobooth in the salon! Derik and I had to take a pic together. How fun right? I took like 5 more in there just for fun. LOL! Don’t tell a fashion blogger that there’s a photobooth and not expect us to take a ton of photos 🙂
I went to the downtown Seattle location but they also have one in South Lake Union which is a gorgeous space as well.
And can we just talk about these floors? So pretty!

Here is how it looks curled. Since I usually wear my hair curled I wanted a look that would be pretty both curled and straight and I love them both. The end of my hair is very blonde but it’s a very warm caramel blonde and I love that you can see all the different shades when my hair is curled.
I am so happy with my hair and love that I did this. I usually am quite boring with my hair so this just feels so fun and exciting to me! By the way, I used the instyler to curl my hair. I mentioned it in my Gifts I’m Giving video but just had to tell you that I’m really loving it. Normally I use a clipless curling iron which I love the look of but man of man it takes me so long to curl my hair and not only that my arm starts to hurt! The instyler takes all the work out of it and I get these pretty waves.

Let’s be honest here, I go to Target even when I don’t need to go to Target and then spend WAY too much money there 🙂 I shop for everything there but I always get sucked into the makeup aisles. I love the Pixi beauty line that they carry there and have tried out a few of their products these past few months.
This multibalm is absolutely fantastic. It works amazing as both a blush and a tinted lipbalm. I’m a huge fan of all the colors although Wild Rose is a fave as it’s a perfectly neutral pink that looks great on the cheek and the lips. Also the size is perfect to carry around in my bag and I really do carry it everywhere for a quick touch up. I’m one of those people that look dead without a hint of color on my cheeks so this is perfect for giving me some color throughout the day.
When I do my makeup at home I do like to start out with a powder blush so I tried out this blush duo that comes with a blush and highlighter. I actually have been using it as a contour/highlight but blended together it creates a really pretty color as well. It also comes with a little kabuki brush, which I don’t know why but I love kabuki brushes. I have a small collection of them, they are my favorite for applying powder and an overall highlight. The Tinted Balm is actually very similar to the multibalm but it’s just for the lips and is very hydrating and when you put it on it’s more of a lipstain so you get a nice color that stays throughout the day. If you are going to just get one though, I’d recommend the multibalm. Both are very similar but I love the size of the multibalm and that you can use it as a blush as well.
I’m always on a quest for good eyeliner and I love the felt tip eyeliners as they go on the smoothest and mistake free (for me at least!) I’ve been able to get all day wear from this eyeliner which is amazing as I seem to smudge my eyeliner without even trying, but this has great staying power with minimal smudging.
And I had to mention the Makeup Fixing Mist as it’s just a must have in your makeup routine. If you’ve never used a setting mist before, I highly recommend you start. I love that you can use this one to start with as sort of a primer. I mainly use it as a setting spray after I’ve done my make up to keep it from moving or settling into any fine lines or pores. It also works great just as a refresher to wake up your face after a long day.
