Nordstrom Sale: Sweaters, Coats and Accessories

Nordstrom is currently having a great sale and I spied quite a few things that are must needed and at a great price!

I’m loving this lace sweater, I don’t have a lot of navy in my closet but I love the color for fall and the lace is so pretty.

And a few other sweater picks:

I just love leather jackets, they just instantly make any outfit so much better and are the perfect thing to wear for the fall.  This jacket is gorgeous and although it’s a bit pricey it’s still a great price for a leather jacket.

More outerwear picks… It’s that time of year that I can’t leave the
house without a jacket so I’m a bit obsessed with anything cute that
will keep me warm!

And I’m always on the lookout for cute accessories when they go on
sale.  I’ve been obsessing over hats lately.  I usually am not one for
baseball caps but tried one on, on a whim, and decided I had to have
it!  (You can see it on me here) I’ve been on the hunt for other hats
lately.

And scarves are always my number one accessory during the winter.  The wind here can get really cold so I love my scarves to always keep me warm.  How cute is that heart print?  It’s only $9!

You know how most people have a lot of black bags?  I have a lot of gray bags and I love them!  I can’t get enough.  They are perfect for the fall/winter but they also work well during the spring too.  Spotted these on sale and love them all, especially the , it’s such a great size and the light gray is so pretty.

Love the tote bag options and I actually own the MBMJ bag in black, I got it years ago and it’s still in great shape and it’s a great crossbody bag that holds a lot!

My Nordstrom Shoe Sale Haul – Prada and Louboutin

I went to Nordstrom not knowing there was a shoe sale going on but when I walked in, my eyes immediately zoomed in on the shoe sale rack and I was SUPER happy to find some amazing shoes on sale!

top:  Kate Spade Lana  | Ivanka Trump | Kate Spade Licorice Too
bottom: Pour la Victoire | Carolinna Espinosa | BCBG

There was not a whole lot of the higher end designer labels on sale but I ended up picking up these Prada flats on sale. (not on sale online)  I’ve been wanting pointy toe flats so I was very happy to find them!

My SA brought out a few other pairs in a size 5 and we were talking about how hard it was to get shoes in a 5.  I asked her if she might have any other shoes on sale when she mentioned that she may have a few more in the back.  When she brought out these booties my eyes lit up and I’m pretty sure I snatched them out of her hands as fast as I could! LOL! I just love the color and the So Kate is my new favorite pump shape and I’ve never seen the bootie version!

They were priced at over 50% off and with some gift cards stored up, I ended up paying just a third of the original price for these!  Very excited for my new shoes and I’m sure you will be seeing them in my outfit posts soon!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale round 2!

The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is almost over!  The prices go back up on Monday so I did one last look to see what I may have missed and of course came upon things that I just had to have.  I’m not typically one to order a ton of stuff and return it as returning stuff is annoying to me but I had to do it as I found so much stuff that I like but I know I can’t keep it all.  I have these items on the way to me and I’ll decide after I get them which ones I like best.

I love jackets and trust me when you live in Seattle, jackets are a must have for 9-10 months out of the year.  I have been loving the moto jacket look and found these three that I think will pair with almost everything in my wardrobe.

1. Quilted leather moto jacket – I don’t own anything this beige color but I love how it’s paired with
gray here which I do own a lot of so I’m thinking it may
be good for me to venture out and try out this color.  The one thing I’m
concerned with is if it’s too close to my skin tone which happens a lot
with this color and then it just looks weird on me.
2. Faux leather moto jacket – I’m always a fan of the mixed materials in jackets, I love the look of the different textures so I’m really liking the look of this and think it will look great paired with boyfriend jeans and skinny jeans.
3. Boucle jacket – This jacket may not keep me too warm, I’ll have to see how thin it is but I love the color and the texture.  It also comes in petite sizing which I’m hoping that the sleeves will fit me as usually I find that jackets are much too long on my arms so I have to roll up or scrunch the sleeves.

I always need more sweaters!  I love to layer them over blouses or I like to look for details that will look great underneath a jacket.  Most of the time in fall, I rarely take my jacket off when I’m out and about.

1. Crochet sweater –  I love the crochet detail and it’s really pretty in the pink too.  It’s juinors sizing though so I’m always a little wary of the stuff from the juniors department.  I find it to fit either too boxy or too tight.  This one I’m thinking might be too boxy but we’ll see.  I did see this very similar but luxe version by Joie. I may have to order it just in case!
2. Stripe sweater – this looks very similar to the sweater I got last year that I love.  I wore it so much during the winter so I like that they updated it.
3. Floral sweater – I tend to stick to smaller patterns which they say work better for most people, especially if you are on the shorter side but I wanted to try this floral one.  I love how they paired it with boyfriend jeans which as much as I love my skinny jeans, I’ve been trying to incorporate the boyfriend jeans into my outfits more.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

I’m an avid Nordstrom shopper so always get excited for the Anniversary Sale.  Such a great time to stock up on fall styles (and my favorite time of the year for fashion is fall!) They have a preview going on for cardholders right now so I had to do a bit of shopping.  If you don’t have a card, you’ll be able to shop the sale on July 18th, so here’s my picks from the preview in case you are interested!

1. McGinn Tweed Jacket – always love a tweed jacket for fall and winter and love the color combo.  Perfect to wear with jeans or over a LBD with booties.
2. Burberry Brit Jacket – We wear coats and jackets for most of the year here so I tend to invest in coats since I know that I will wear them almost every day.  I love this quilted coat that’s not too puffy and still very stylish.  I think it will look great with everything I own!

3. Tildon dress
– I’m a sucker for long sleeve dresses.  This is the perfect dress to fab jewelry and other accessories too as it’s a bit of a blank slate.  I would do either a statement necklace or put my hair up and some glam earrings.
4. Loeffler Randall Clutch – I love the fall tones of this clutch and I am picturing it with all my fall outfits already.  It comes in gold too which I contemplated getting as well!
5. Halogen Love Sweater – I got a few of these Halogen sweaters last year and love the new patterns that they came out with this year.  These sweaters are so soft and fit a bit slouchy so perfectly casual yet stylish.
6. Alice + Olivia Wrap Sweater – I love wrap sweaters and that you can style them a bit differently depending on how you wrap them.  Alice + Olivia is one of my favorite brands and I can always count on them for great quality pieces.
7. Phillip Lim Mini Pashli – my sister has a mini pashli bag that I love so when I spotted this on sale I had to scoop it up.  It looks like it’s sold out now but the regular size pashli is also on sale in multicolor and this pretty nude color.

The Anniversary sale is also a great time to stock up on some beauty items.  They have a lot of exclusives just for the sale.  Very excited about the nude eyeshadow palette even though I mainly just have nude eyeshadows, I just love these palettes that just put them all together and is easy to travel with.  I buy the NARS cheek palette every Anniversary sale but it is hands down my favorite blush and bronzers.

Designer Shoe Pre-sale

It’s my favorite time of year again!  Designer Shoe sale time!

I went to Nordstrom and did my pre-sale yesterday.  Here’s what I got or tried on…

the leopard ones are on sale too!
Click through to see more…

Update: my SA just told me that these would not be on sale 🙁

And here are more styles that I tried on or I know for sure that are going to go on sale!

The discount varies from brand but will be 30%-40% off.  Most brands will go on sale 11/27 and Chanel, Dior and Louboutin will not go on sale until 12/4.

If you need a great sales associate, email me and I’ll give you the info for mine, he hunts down everything for me in my size and is awesome!  Otherwise, go to Salon Shoes at Nordstrom and ask if you can do a pre-sale!  Basically how it works is that you find the shoes that you want and then on the day of the sale they’ll charge your card and send them to you (or you can pick them up at the store.)  You can always go to the store the day of the sale but pre-sale is best because you’ll for sure get your size and styles that you want!

Nordstrom Price Matching

This post has been updated in 2020

Here is where you can find the latest Nordstrom price match and price adjustments policy. Even throughout the years since I wrote this post I have had varying price adjustment situations with Nordstrom so I still wanted to leave this post up for those of you who may be wondering about their policies!

My best advice is to inquire about your price adjustment online as this has been the most consistent for me.

Original post below:

I have a little story to tell, but before I begin, here is a little background:

If you are a longtime reader, (or if you have perused my archives) you will know that I love designer shoes. They are the one thing that I always splurge on. My closet is full of designer shoes and the place that I buy most of them are from Nordstrom.

I have a shoe sales associate that I am very loyal to and buy most of my shoes from him. They know that I’m a loyal customer as I get sent thank you notes all the time, I get calls from sales associates about upcoming sales, about pre-sales, about special events. I have been a Nordstrom card holder since I was 19! So as you can see, I’m very loyal to them as well.

So onto the story…

Does Nordstrom Pricematch?

About a week and a half ago, I went to Nordstrom to go shopping and I found a beautiful pair of Dior pumps that were regular price. They were expensive, but like I said, I tend to splurge on designer shoes and I loved them so I purchased them.

I haven’t worn them yet because with all the designer sales going on at Barney’s and Saks, I wanted to see if maybe I could find a pair of shoes that I loved and were on sale to save me a bit of cash.

Price match with online stores

Just this weekend, I was perusing online and found that both Bluefly and Saks Fifth Avenue had the same exact Dior shoes on sale. Saks had them for 40% off and Bluefly had them for 20% off. I was excited! Yay! I could save at least $200 on these shoes that I loved! I then remembered recently reading about this post/video on Clutch 22 where she went to do a price match at Nordstrom on a code that she found from shoes.com.

Basically shoes.com carried the same shoe as Nordstrom but if she ordered from them she would get 20% off so she went to see if Nordstrom would give her the 20% off as well.

In the end she succeeded and even attempted a second time to see if they would do a price adjustment after she found a 25% off coupon code and it worked as well. I also remembered seeing signs around Nordstrom that said “We won’t be undersold” or something like that and said that if you found a price cheaper somewhere else, they would match it.

My experience with Nordstrom Price Match

So, with that in mind and receipt in my hand I called up Nordstrom. My sales associate wasn’t working at the time so I ended up talking to the manager of Salon Shoes.

I told him the same story, as to how I was just there and purchased these shoes but then saw that Bluefly had them for 20% less and if they would price match. (If you are wondering, I told them about Bluefly first because they had my size in stock.)

He then told me that since they are a retail store, they do not do any price matching of online stores. He said it had to be a retail store like Macy’s (which Macy’s does not carry Dior or any designer shoes, at least the one in Seattle doesn’t) so I then told him that I actually found the same shoes on Saks for 40% off. He responded that Saks was closing their doors and that’s why they were marked down and that he wouldn’t price match those either. I then asked why it appeared that so many stores had these same shoes on sale but Nordstrom didn’t. He told me that they might possibly go on sale in the next few weeks and to check back. I told him Thank you and that I would check back and then hung up. To be clear, it wasn’t a bad conversation, he was polite about it and I didn’t argue with him or anything.

At first I wasn’t bothered about it because I knew that they had to have certain policies. But the more I thought about it, it bothered me because Jordana (of Clutch 22) did not have any problems price matching for coupon codes that they were both for online stores.

I was confused about the Saks comment because I didn’t know that Saks was closing their doors (did you?) but then I think does it matter if they are? Because if they are selling the exact same product, at the exact same time with a cheaper price, then why wouldn’t Nordstrom match it? I could just order it online from Saks and return my Nordstrom pair so Nordstrom would lose the sale after all.

Saks - Dior

I am not telling this story to complain about my situation, it’s just that with posts like the one from Clutch 22 it appears that Nordstrom WILL price match any or similar situations but with my story, it shows that it’s not true.

I think it’s awesome that Jordana did her research and got Nordstrom to make the price match and I think it’s great that Nordstrom was willing to do it. But it bothered me that my situation was similar but I didn’t even get a “Let me see if I can do that.” it was just a straight “No we don’t do that.”

Now, I don’t know if it made a difference that her shoes were $100 and mine were $600 but I just think that they need to be consistent with their policies. Also, if they are posting signs in their stores claiming that they won’t be undersold, you’d think they’d have clear policies regarding price matching.

I want to be clear that I do not think that I deserve the price difference. I totally understand that Nordstrom is a company and that companies need to have policies and do what they need to do to earn a profit. I don’t expect Nordstrom to just hand me the shoes at any discount I find. All I am saying is that if they have policies, it needs to be consistent so that all customers get the same treatment.

Price compare and do your research

Don’t get me wrong, this is not a big enough deal where I will stop shopping there. I still love shopping at Nordstrom and the shoe section is still one of my favorites. I just know that I will do a lot more research online.

I know that this experience changed my shopping habits a lot in that I was so used to being able to get the same prices everywhere (for designer items mainly) but I think now with all the competition and sales out there, you can always find a better price somewhere else. So make sure to look and don’t overpay like I did! 🙂
