Lookbook: Party time!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for downloading my 2011 CD Calendar!  So far it’s been downloaded over 600 times!!  I completely underestimated it and when I first posted it I had a 1GB limit on my downloads which I thought would be enough.  Within 4 hours of posting I had exceeded my limit and had to find an unlimited download host ASAP!  I just can’t believe it and am really glad you guys liked it.  If any of you guys have pictures of it sitting on your desk or displayed in any other ways, send them over, I would love to see it! 🙂  I also want to thank those of you that blogged about it, tweeted it and also the sweet comments and emails I received in regards to the calendar.  It truly made my day and I’m so glad that I could do something to share with so many of you!
I had a couple of requests for holiday party lookbooks and I tried to do some but each time I got dressed up, guess what?  it rained!  Boooo.  So I was able to squeeze one party outfit in during the few hours where it wasn’t raining.  I ran outside to take this picture and came back in and literally 5 minutes later, downpour!  So I guess I was lucky I even got these pictures.  I didn’t go to any fancy schmancy parties this year so no fun sparkly gowns but for a nice dinner party, I pulled out a LBD that I bought ages ago but never wore.  The pictures don’t show the details too well but it’s got layers of poofy tulle that make it a perfect little party dress.

What I’m Wearing
Blazer: Anthropologie
Dress: H&M
Tights: DKNY
Shoes: Christian Louboutin “Ron Ron”
Ring: Kenneth Jay Lane
Necklace: J Crew

I did some major damage at the designer shoe sale at Nordstrom and these pretty pink glitter Louboutins are one of my buys! They are one of those shoes that are so impractical that they end up going with everything!  Or maybe I just love them so much that I want to wear them with everything! 🙂

GUESS by Marciano Lorene Striped Blazer
I love this!  It comes in gray too.
I tried on this this Elizabeth and James blazer yesterday and it is GORGEOUS!  Or this one is super similar to mine and on sale!

Alice + Olivia Tessie Tulle One Shoulder Dress
eeeeek!  Sooo pretty!

This Modcloth Sound Check Dress is really cute too.  I love long sleeve dresses.  The Sweet Jamz Dress is pretty dang cute too.

These Louboutins are a lot more of a subtle glitter but gorgeous nonetheless!  And these for sure will get you noticed!

Taking a little holiday break so see you guys next week.  Hope you guys enjoy your holidays!

If you missed it last year here’s my adorable card that I sent out that I don’t think I can top this year.  (Original design by my husband with input from me!)

Did you see that the Loubies that the reindeer is wearing are the same shoes I’m wearing in this post?  Total coincidence!  I must have had a premonition that those would be in my life when I had J create the card.  Loves it!

Shoe Collection: The Unworns

I love all the requests you guys have sent me for my videos so please keep them coming!  My most requested is a video for my shoes so I decided to show you a few pairs that are in my collection but don’t get worn as often so you may not have noticed them on my blog.  We all have shoes like that right?  The ones that we love but just don’t get any play.  Sometimes I think “oh I should sell those” but really, it’s so hard to part with pretty shoes!  Anyway, enjoy the vlog and the pictures!

I like Big Bows…

You know that I love sharing my new shoe purchases with you all and you’re probably used to seeing my 4 inch stilettos but had to show off these little bow flats as they deserved a post of their own!

I found these at the Prada store when I was in New York last month.  I didn’t think I had a chance of finding them in my size as I had seen them first at Saks but the size they had was a half size too big.  When I asked for them at the Prada store I got the “oh, that’s quite small, I don’t think we have that size, let me go check.”  Never a good sign when the sales person already tells you that they don’t have that size.  But, luck was on my side and he brought out my coveted size 5!

The big bows are too cute aren’t they?  (Oh and do you like our new living room rug?)

I love that the bows are bigger than the front of my feet.  I’ve been wearing these with everything.  They have become my replacements for my Tory Burch Revas.  Although I own 3 paris of Revas, they all have become so worn down with all of the walking that I’ve been doing in them so I was due for a new pair of flats.  (I wear them whenever I travel and when I travel I do a lot of walking.) But I do have to say that the Revas are more comfortable than these flats.  These ones kind of pinch on the side but nothing too bad, I can still wear them for hours and not complain about my feet hurting.

I can only find them online at Neiman Marcus right now, but like I said, I saw them at Saks too.  Saks had a pretty blush/nude color too but they were out of my size.  I hope they put them online soon as I’ll probably be ordering that color too!

There are lots of cute bow flats out there, here are some of my picks!

Shopping for Shoes

I get a lot of questions through email or in the comments of my posts and I usually answer them individually but this one was going to be a long answer so I thought I’d post it and hope that it’s helpful for others as well!

Lo asks: where do you shop for shoes?. I’m in the south, so we have a few specialty stores where we can get Stuart Weitzman and the like but do you order online. If you do what your experience been?

Hi Lo! Although I’d rather purchase my shoes in a retail store as I love being pampered by my sales associates, I do shop for shoes online frequently. I rely heavily on customer reviews for online stores so I’m glad that you asked this question. I am happy to share!

Here are the ones I frequent the most:
Endless – Although they don’t have the higher end shoes that I typically buy, they have great selection and you can’t beat FREE overnight shipping and returns. I also like the way they organize things and you can select by size, color, heel height, etc… I have yet to have a bad experience with them.

Zappos – Fantastic selection. I like that they have a Couture section now. They have a ton of brands that I usually only see a few styles at the store but Zappos has all the styles. I am particularly fond of Alexander McQueen shoes and they are the only place that I can see the collection. Free Shipping and Returns is also an added bonus. Oh and it says that shipping takes 4-5 days but I think almost every time I’ve ordered, they’ve upgraded me to overnight shipping. I only wish they would get in my staple brands like Jimmy Choo.

Neiman Marcus and Saks – I’m grouping these together because I usually find the same styles here. If I’m looking for a pair of shoes and one doesn’t have my size, I can usually find it on the other site. This is where I buy my Jimmy Choo’s, Gucci’s, Louboutin’s etc… Shipping and Returns are meh-okay only. The wait time for shipping can be excruciating long sometimes but other times it ships quickly. I hate the waiting game of online ordering. Sometimes you can score great designer shoes on sale but you have to be quick because their sizes go out fast.

Eluxury – Great brands. They have a lot of styles that I never get to see in stores. Not a fan of the high shipping cost ($13.95 for most things). Return policy (60 days) is alright. I like places that just have automatic return labels that you just stick in the mail. They require you to go to USPS/FedEx, etc. to return it.

For shopping in retail stores my best tip is to befriend the sales associates. They will do wonders for you. I rarely buy my designer shoes full price. The only ones I do are the ones like the Louboutins below that I know will never go on sale. I have specific sales associates at certain stores that will tell me when and what is going on sale. If I don’t have a sales associate that I always buy from then I just ask any sales associate if they know when the next sale is. If the sale is close my next question is if they know what is going to be on sale. Most of the time they do. I’ve had sales associates walk around the floor with me and told me to pick out which shoes I want and they’d check if they were going to be on sale or sometimes they just bring out all the shoes of the brands that I like in my size. I do most of my sale shopping this way as I don’t have to fight the crowds and I get first pick of my small shoe size. It is a win win situation for both me and the sales person!

Hope my shoe shopping tips have helped! Now go out and buy some shoes! 😉

New Shoes!

it’s been some time since I’ve shared my shoe purchases so here we go with two of my recent faves…

My new Diors

I love every single little detail of these shoes. From the straps to the dots, to the mixture of the black and white and even the funky curve of the heel. J’adore Dior!

I have professed my love for gray shoes before and never have I found the most perfect pair of light gray patent leather heels.
They were mine the minute I laid eyes on them.

Both are good for work and play. The Diors are a bit hard to walk in but they sure do look pretty and that’s all that matters to me!

decisions decisions

So you know once you buy your dress, you pretty much stop looking? Well, that was me. Same with my shoes. I’ve been buying shoes like crazy but not looking for wedding shoes. And then I stumbled upon these lovelies on Lovely Morning. And I am torn.

Here are mine (the ones I wore to our courthouse ceremony as well)

and here are the new contenders.

Oh the decisions to make.

Lookbook: Legally Married

First of all, I really wanted to say thank you for all my readers and commenters leaving me such sweet comments about us getting married and our ceremony. I haven’t had time to comment back like I usually do but I appreciate every one of your comments! Several of you have asked about the dress so of course I had to do a lookbook on what we wore.

I literally bought this dress about 2 hours before we headed to the courthouse. I had ordered a dress from Shopbop.com that I thought would work, but it didn’t. It also didn’t arrive until the day before, so my only choice was to go shopping the day of. We went to every single store/boutique that downtown had to offer and ended up loving this one the most.

What I’m Wearing:
Dress: BCBG
Shoes: Gucci

What He’s Wearing:
Suit: Banana Republic
Shirt: Lova
Shoes: Hugo Boss

us

IMG_5808

J bought this suit just a few days before so we were both sporting brand new duds. (Can you expect anything less from us?) I went into a frenzy trying to find sliver shoes to go with this dress until it hit me that my Gucci’s that I was saving for our wedding were sitting in my closet. Well, I was going to get married that day, so why not break them out! They have such pretty rhinestones that glittered in the sunlight.

Doesn’t J look great in his Lova shirt that I had posted about previously? We recently made a change and bought him a new shirt to wear to the wedding in Jamaica so he decided to wear this one for the ceremony. It looked so great with his new suit.

Husband and Wife!

I kept the jewelry simple and clean, with sparkly bangles, a cocktail ring and hoop earrings.

I thought about pulling my hair back with a flower or some kind of embellishment but decided that it just wasn’t me and didn’t want to not look like me on the day we got married.

I had my brother take pictures of us and then I noticed that he wasn’t capturing our shoes so I yelled at him to make sure that he got them. J decided to be funny and really make sure that you could see my shoes.

funnyshoes

This was taken on the deck of the courthouse that I mentioned previously. You can’t see the view but the deck is huge, isn’t it?

So that, my friends is what we wore to get legally married. It was basically like what we are going to wear to our wedding but just toned down.

Oh and Miss Burb brought up a good point about what we are actually celebrating as our anniversary. I told J that he better buy a good calendar because he’s going to have to remember 3 anniversaries. Our ceremony, our wedding and our first date. HA! Like that’s going to happen. I think that we are just going to go with the ceremony date as our anniversary since this is when we really became husband and wife. How did you/are you going to do it? Did you all forego the “first date” anniversary? I think eventually we will but I can’t let it go now. How could we? We’ve celebrated it for the past 7 years!
