Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2017 – Best Buys and Dressing Room Diaries

It’s here! Now everyone can shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I finally made it to downtown Nordstrom and tried on a bunch of stuff and bought a bunch of stuff! This is a huge long post, but keep reading so you can see all my finds! I think this year is one of Nordstrom’s best years yet! I love so many things. I was so happy with my buys I even had my sales person take a photo of me with my bags before I left. LOL I have no shame but isn’t the wall paper so cute?

This dress was surprisingly one of my favorites. I’ve always been a fan of drop waist dresses – my wedding dress was a drop waist! I just loved the fit and the print of this dress.

Black Drop Waist Dress: Size XS $45.90

Another cute dress, love all the details, especially the fun sleeves! I also love that both were a good length on me and I think it would work fine for anyone taller or shorter than me.

Pink Floral Dress: Size XS $45.90

These shorts are one of my favorites ever! Funny story – I saw them on the wall hanging at the very top and I was jumping around trying to grab my size but it was so hard to read the tags (short people problems). I probably looked ridiculous, but I ended up finding my sales associate and she grabbed them for me. I’m so glad I did not give up on them though, they are SO cute. I love the pleats and how it looks like a skirt. They really dress up an outfit.

And I can never resist a cute button up so I grabbed this one and was not disappointed. I love that it kind of looks like a pajama top. I know I’ll be wearing this a lot!

I asked my sales associate to help me grab some more cute tops and she brought me the same top but in this satin/silk material and I fell in love! The color and the material is so pretty. And I know it may be hectic the first day of the sale, but if you can, have your sales associate help you find stuff that you may not have seen. I just told her the kind of tops I was interested in and she found a bunch. They are happy that they will probably get more commission and I’m more happy that I don’t have to leave the dressing room to hunt and can just get cute stuff to try on! It’s a win-win!

Ooooh this top… man I told you so many cute things this year. I love this color, the material (it’s lightweight and stays tucked in) and those sleeves! Seriously one of my faves!

Red Bell Sleeve Top: Size XS $38.90

This is a great basic sweater with a twist with those bell sleeves. Oh and it’s SO soft. I hate buying sweaters only to find out later that it’s so itchy. This one is not itchy at all and so comfy. The jeans are by Topshop and I although I have so many pairs of distressed jeans, I had to get another. These fit so well but I did size up on them.

This was a top that my sales associate found for me. I loved it but it was too similar to the silky button down top (it was basically the same color) so I passed on this one but I had to show you guys as I still think it’s a cute top.

Another top I didn’t get but I love the details! It’s an asymmetrical hem and has split sleeves as well. I did buy those skinny jeans (they were only $40!). I love dark skinny jeans and I can always use another pair.

This top is so cute, but I also left this one behind. I love it but I know that once the weather turns here I will not be wanting to wear anything off the shoulder and I liked the other tops better.

6 Can’t Miss Pieces From the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

I just got back from Vegas and had a blast! Will be putting together a post of my trip soon, but first… the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I was so busy the last few days I finally just got a chance to sit down and look more thoroughly through the sale online. I did place an order before I left so I have a few things on it’s way to me, but I have found so many more things!

So #1 and #2 on the list are is this gorgeous Embroidered Faux Leather Jacket and the Cutout Choker Tee (under $20!). You will wear both all season long. I love the added embroidery detail on the jacket and the price is SO good as it just looks so much more expensive. Pair it with these olive jeans (I’m kind of obsessed with olive lately!) and these edgy ankle boots.

#3 is this simple and pretty Knit Midi Dress. I’m kind of hoarding midi dresses right now as they are super comfy and stylish. Love the color (comes in 2 other colors) and it has pockets! I will be pairing it with a long cardigan which will be perfect to wear with everything all fall and winter. I love initial necklaces as I love to have anything with my daughter’s name or initial on it, but I always find that they are either kind of cheap looking or really really expensive. This necklace is actually perfect and under $50. Also, just had to mention those block heels with the stud details. They are the perfect heel height so that you can wear them for long periods of time and the color/style really elongates the legs as well.

#4 – you really don’t want to miss this peplum sweatshirt. I mean, I love sweatshirts for casual weekend days in the fall and I’ve always loved a “dressed up”sweatshirt so this peplum one is right up my alley. I’m loving velvet accessories for the fall and winter and had to get this cute clutch/crossbody for under $40. Also how cute are those slides. I love the look of loafer slides and have yet to try them out so I’m excited to get these.

#5 and #6 – The Suede Waterfall Jacket and a Tie Front Tee. I think I buy a waterfall jacket almost every anniversary sale. It’s one of my fall must have’s as they are so easy to add on over jeans and a tee and look pulled together. I don’t have this color and think it’s so pretty. The tie front tee might be a bit much with the jacket if you have the tie right in front but if you hide it off to the side it’s less noticeable but when you take off your jacket, you’ll be wearing more than just a plain tee and jeans which is the look as I was going for. Also on my must have’s list is a good pair of high waisted skinny jeans. For someone who is always worried about looking short, high waisted jeans are amazing for making your legs look a lot longer.

What to buy under $100 at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Ok guys, it’s here! The 2017 Nordstrom Anniversary sale and I gotta say there is so much great stuff! I’m not going to be able to share all my picks just yet but my first strategy is to always grab the best stuff under $100 as those items sell out the fastest. I always buy tops, sweaters and boots at this sale so I’m rounding up the best of the sale, all under $100 on this post. If you are a Nordstrom cardholder, go ahead and add them to cart and don’t even hesitate or your size may get sold out. If you don’t have a Nordstrom card, don’t fret! You’ll still have a chance to get these deals when the sale goes public on July 21. Sizes will definitely be limited so you’ll want to shop them as fast as you can. If you see anything you like now, bookmark it or pin it to your pinterest board so that you’ll remember what to buy and grab it as soon as the sale starts! Now onto my picks…

Nordstrom Dressing Room Try on’s – Summer Shopping

You probably have heard that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming soon. For Nordstrom Cardholders, we get early access starting tomorrow. The public sale starts July 21. If you want the early access, you can go ahead and apply for the card here, just in time to shop the sale! Even if you don’t or aren’t able to shop the early access sale, don’t worry because there’s still going to be a ton of good stuff to shop. Fun fact, I used to work for Nordstrom corporate and we were required to work on the floor (or at least encouraged to) on the first day of the sale, so I have many, many years of experience behind the scenes as well as being a shopper myself and I can say, it’s pretty much like a national holiday for us here in Seattle, especially at the Nordstrom Flagship Store in downtown. The lines before the stores open, the excitement from all the sale people and then the doors open and it’s like a party all day long.

If you didn’t know, the Anniversary Sale is not like any old sale. It’s actually all brand new, never been seen before merchandise that is specially priced for the sale. It’s mostly fall/winter items which is why, even though it’s the middle of summer, you should be stocking up on all these items even if you have no desire to even touch a sweater or leather jacket in this weather 🙂 You can preview a lot of the styles in their catalog here but there will be a lot more in the sale.

With that said, I’m still very much in summer mode right now and I did a little bit of shopping and found so many cute pieces. Most of these are perfect for now, but some will still transition perfectly into the fall. I also know that most of us are probably trying to save money for the Anniversary sale but a lot of these pieces are under $50 and just great pieces that you will wear again and again so I think it’s worth it to get some pieces that you can just wear now. Or the other thing I do is to just take note of the pieces that I love, bookmark them or add them to my wishlist and then every few weeks, check back on your links or your wishlist and then snag them as soon as you see that they went on sale!

Such a cute flowy top. It’s one of those tops that you can pair with anything, jeans, shorts or a skirt and it will look so cute!

I’m all about the comfy casual tee with a twist. This one is perfectly distressed and love the peplum hem.

PEPLUM TEE – $35

This one is a nice smooth knit and is just super comfy on. I’m all about this olive green lately, great for the transition to fall.

RUFFLE SLEEVE TEE – $29

I don’t know what it is but I love one shoulder ruffle tops. I think they are all so cute and flattering! Love the eyelet detail on this one.

And I love fun lace details so this tank is one of my favorites!

I love tops like this that are cute and stylish but just easy to wear.

It looks way cuter on the model than it does on me but I still loved the bell sleeves and the detail in the front.

If you follow me on instagram you may have seen my instagram stories with these tops. I don’t know how I managed to pick out all black, white and pink tops, but I think you can tell what my favorite colors and patterns are!

This is a nice thick knit. It was a little overwhelming on me so I didn’t get it but I did appreciate the longer sleeves of this cold shoulder top.

I love this top! I bought this one and already shot a lookbook for it. It’s just so darn cute! It comes in 5 other solid colors also.

ONE SHOULDER RUFFLE TOP – $59

Another favorite top that I bought and can’t stop wearing. As you can see, I love tops with details like ruffles or cold shoulder but my new thing is the tie front top!

This is such a fun sweatshirt for the fall. I couldn’t get the ties quite right but I assure you that once they are tied correctly they will look a lot cuter!

I can’t do enough posts about Amazon Prime Day. There are just so many good things on sale! The one thing about Amazon is that it’s impossible to shop. I can understand the frustration of clicking through pages and pages of stuff and not really knowing what I’m looking at. Because I do shop on Amazon quite frequently, I’ve learned little tips and tricks to help me find what I need. I was just browsing and noticing how many cute shoes are currently included in the Amazon Prime Day Deals. Most of these are 30% off their original price and because a lot of these are Designer brands, it’s just so rare to see any kind of discounts on them. The best fashion deals on Amazon Prime Day!

If you are anything like me, an Amazon box shows up at my house almost every day. I buy so much through Amazon it’s almost ridiculous how much of our money goes to them, but they’ve made shopping for the most boring things so easy and I never have to leave the house. One thing though that I discovered and I feel like a lot of people don’t realize just how great Amazon is for buying fashion items as well. When I have an event that I need a dress or shoes for and I don’t have time to go to the mall, I browse amazon and 2 days later (sometimes sooner) I have what I need for my event. I love shopping at Nordstrom but, sometimes it takes them 5 business days to just ship something out. Who has time for that? Even for my own clothing line we try to get things out within a day or two of your order but as a small company we can’t afford to offer free 2 day shipping so I can truly appreciate the benefit of Amazon Prime shipping.

Anyway, the point of this post is that tomorrow is Amazon Prime Day which means that there are so many great deals to be had but all the deals end at 11:55PM PST tomorrow night. Well, lucky for you I’m sharing it early because even though tomorrow is the official day, the deals actually start RIGHT NOW (Monday) at 6PM PST.

Amazon has a few exclusive clothing lines and I have already fallen in love with quite a few pieces! I already shared this top that I got a few weeks ago on THIS POST and I just got THIS DRESS which has quickly become my favorite dress for the summer.

Before we get into the details, are you a prime member? Because if you aren’t – go sign up right now. You get a free 30 day trial and honestly I don’t know one person that has regretted getting the prime membership. It’s not just about free 2 day shipping, you also get access to Amazon Video that has a lot of great moves and shows for adults and kids and a lot are Prime Exclusives. One of my daughter’s favorite shows is Tumbleleaf and you can watch all the episodes on Amazon Video for free if you are a prime member! You also get to listen to a ton of music for free through Prime Music (did I mention it’s ad free?!) Although they do have another program – the Amazon Music Unlimited that you do have to pay for but you literally can listen to every single song that you can think of. (OK maybe not, every single song in the world, but I haven’t found one song that it hasn’t been able to find). The unlimited option is only $7.99 a month. I talked about it more in depth in this post along with my review of the Amazon Echo if you are interested in learning more. If you do want to sign up for the Music Unlimited, they are currently offering 4 months for 99 cents so it’s a great time to test it out! You also have to have a Prime membership in order to order these items at this price so make sure to sign up for your free trial right now!

So back to the dress, it is part of the Prime Day deals (so grab it today!). I fell in love with the photo online but I was a bit skeptical as I wasn’t sure what it would be like when it arrived. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it and saw that the fabric was a nice thick, structured fabric and that it fit very well. I’m wearing the XS and it does fit true to size. The off the shoulder style is actually really comfortable because the fabric is pretty stretchy and comfy. I love the fit and flare style. I’m pretty short waisted and don’t have a tiny waist, so I like styles like this that give me a bit more shape in that area.

J Crew SALE – Dressing Room Try On’s + What I did this weekend

Happy 4th of July! I had such a great weekend, we recently got my daughter her first bike and it’s the cutest thing ever watching her ride it. I’m sharing some photos from the weekend below, but first, I headed over to the mall to do some shopping and J Crew had a great sale! 30% off your entire purchase and additional 50% off sale! It looks like online is pretty much the same deal however I did find that some prices differed online (some things were on sale online but not in store) . Either way, in store or online you are still getting a great deal. Anyway, there were SO many good things, here’s the best of the bunch!

I’m a midi dress lover and I’m also loving eyelet these days. I love the shape of this dress and the strap details. It’s not super flattering with my sandals but I know this will be super cute with heels and a clutch. It comes in orange too.

Another cute dress! I love the stretchy top and the gingham. It’s so lightweight so it’s a great dress for those really hot days or even to wear over your bikini if you are headed to the pool or beach.

I loved this outfit. I’ve been needing some new jean shorts and I really liked how these fit. Not too long and not too short. I also adore this top. I accidentally cut off the top of the pic, but there is a tie on the shoulder. The ruffles and the embroidery on the bottom makes this such a cute girly top.

Here’s some snaps from our weekend! We went to one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Seattle, La Rustica. It’s right by the water and it’s just the loveliest little restaurant with some of the best pasta and Italian food ever. I believe it’s a family run business, the service is always great and it’s just a nice cozy, romantic spot. Highly recommended! It’s actually one of our regular date night spots but we brought our daughter this time to enjoy the food and she loved it. We take her out to a lot of nice and not necessarily “kid friendly” places but we always get great treatment and have never felt like people were annoyed that we brought our daughter. We actually get a lot of compliments from people at restaurants about how well behaved our daughter is and honestly, I think it’s because she’s just so used to going out with us. I also come prepared with our own cups (most of these restaurants aren’t going to have plastic cups with straws readily available!) and other food/snacks in case she’s not into the food as she can be kind of picky with food. We’ve never had a problem with bringing our own food for her and it really does help to be prepared just in case.

DRESS SHOES SUNGLASSES CLUTCH

This is the view right across from the restaurant, isn’t is gorgeous? There are houses right on the water, I’m so jealous of their view!

As I mentioned, we got our daughter her very first balance bike and she’s been doing so well on it. She just loves it. We walk from our house to the park which is about a mile away and she rode her bike almost the whole way and then she practiced some more at the park. We got her the Strider bike as we tested quite a few bikes and my husband and I really liked the look and feel of the bike. It’s very lightweight, but also sturdy and a perfect starter bike. We went with the balance bike instead of a training wheel bike as we felt like getting her used to balancing on this kind of bike would be more beneficial for her to learn rather than pedaling on training wheels. Although I learned to ride a bike on a training wheel bike (which I’m sure everyone my age did) I just felt like this was the better way to go for her. We went to our local bike store and she picked out the bike, helmet and even a bell! All pink of course 🙂 .

And here we are at the Farmer’s Market. I had to get some fresh peonies of course and we bought lots of fruit! I love this time of year and being able to go to the Farmer’s Market to get fresh veggies and fruit. She is very happy about me letting her hold a receipt. LOL, the things kids get happy about!

She’s wearing her favorite watermelon dress. She has so many of these, they come in so many patterns and are so easy and comfy to wear! AND they’re only $4.99. She’s also wearing her Unicorn Vans (also her favorite shoes!)

I don’t eat yogurt but everyone in Seattle raves about Ellenos Greek Yogurt so if you are in Seattle and love yogurt, it’s a must try! My husband says it tastes more like ice cream than yogurt!
