Lookbook: Pleated Skirt

I totally forgot about this outfit!  I took these photos this summer and
I know we are in winter now but thought I’d share.  I’d still wear it
this winter but I will be adding warm tights and a cozy cardigan.bow_tie_blouse-2

T+J DESIGNS SKIRT – (production sample) similar here.  Take 30% off the entire site with code THANKYOU30

Before we created our line of skirts we went through various fabrics and silhouettes and ultimately decided not to go with this style (we ended up with a similar but shirred version).  I still love this skirt even though we did not end up going with it for our line.  We’ve had some people ask about our skirts as they assumed that we had purchased them for our line but actually we designed everything. Jen and I did everything from pick out the fabrics, the lining, the length, the width of the pleats, etc… And then all of our skirts are custom made for us.  We try to stick with a standard sizing of S/M/L because as a small company we don’t have the capital to invest in a huge fabric and size run.  As much as we would love to accommodate everyone’s size, we just can’t with the limited resources we have.  But we have been taking custom orders from larger to smaller than our standard sizing so if you see something in our line that you love but you need a different size, feel free to email me (tiffany @ tandjdesigns.com), we would love to work on a custom skirt for you!

Lookbook: Black and White Hearts

Just a simple little black and white outfit with my favorite pop of yellow!

photos by Jen Au

What I’m Wearing
J Crew Factory blouse
Faux Leather Skirt
Christian Louboutin Heels
t+j Designs clutch
Crystal Brooch Tassel Necklace
Metallic Druzy Cuff

I’m not one to wear a lot of yellow but I do love it as an accent color.  These shoes have been a favorite since I got them and I really wouldn’t have thought yellow shoes would be all that versatile but they really are!  I wore them out with boyfriend jeans (they are from American Eagle and I love them!) to run some errands and the funny thing is, the half hour that I was at Target, I had 4 ladies stop me to tell me how much they loved my shoes!  They definitely get noticed 🙂

If you follow me on instagram, you may have already seen this but when I was in Target, I spotted these fur vests
that are SO cute.  The quality is really great and for $29.99, the
price is just right!  They have them in several colors and I could not
decide between this beige and the gray.  In the end I went with the
beige but man I really want to go back to get the gray!  I wear an XS
and the fit is true to size.

Lookbook: Pardon Moi

We had a bit of a sunny streak last week so spent one afternoon taking photos for t+j Designs.  We took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed to the waterfront to take more photos and just had to grab some photos with the gorgeous Seattle background.

I got together with my occasional photographer Jen and my intern Crystal for a fun photoshoot earlier this summer and we had a blast shooting these!  I wanted to show the three different lengths and the different looks that you can wear with them and just loved how everything turned out.  We’ve been asked how we came up with these skirts and really we just love the look of these full skirts and have always wanted to create our own so on one of our trips to China where we typically sit down with our factories to work on our jewelry, we spent a few extra days looking at fabric and then came up with the design of the skirts.

4 ways to style a graphic tee/sweatshirt

I can never resist a cute saying or character on a tee or sweater.  Looking back in my archives, I wrote about it back in 2012 and I still love them!  My sister and I loved the trend so much that we went and created our own line of graphic tees and sweatshirts!  I just think they are so cute and wanted to show ways on how I’ve been wearing this trend.

I got this sweater a few weeks ago and I laugh every time I wear it.  My husband always calls me “the boss” so I just had to get it.  He even laughs whenever I wear this! These kinds of sweaters are cute paired with a pair of jeans but I went with a little flare skirt and black pumps to dress it up.  Even though the graphic is usually enough I do like to add a necklace to give it an accent and not just be all about the wording on the shirt.  The chevron necklace was enough to work with it without being too distracting like a larger statement necklace would be.

Similar sweaters that could be easily dressed up:

Sometimes I like to use the graphic tee as an accent instead of the main part of the outfit so even if people can’t read what it says, I use it as almost like a pattern. When paired with a jacket like this, a tee that has a larger coverage with the graphic works best.

Similar graphic tees that look great paired underneath a jacket or cardigan:
And other jackets that I’m loving:

The graphic sweatshirt is probably the easiest thing to make into a super casual outfit but paired with printed shorts and glam necklaces makes this into more of a happy hour with the girls look!

Other fun sweatshirts!

And lastly our cute gray tee that I paired with slouchy boyfriend jeans, a sleek gunmetal necklace (part of our holiday collection, coming soon!) and the perfect pair of glitter slip on’s.  It’s a casual look without looking sloppy and perfect for running around after my daughter and running errands.

Lookbook: Fancy Skirt

What I’m Wearing
I’m So Fancy tee: t+j Designs
Maxi Skirt: t+j Designs
Pumps: Louboutin
Necklace: t+j Designs (similar – this exact style is part of an upcoming collection)

It’s so exciting to be doing our second launch of skirts!  Jen and I had so much fun picking out fabrics and working on the designs of these skirts, and it’s so awesome to finally have the finished product to show you guys.  We wanted to work on skirts that would be great for the fall/holiday season.  We came up with these fancy yet so fun maxi skirts and we hope that you love them as much as we do!

I admit, I’m not much of a maxi skirt fan.  I’m very short waisted and wearing skirts like this just makes my torso look even shorter so you’ll very rarely see me in anything like this.  However when designing our own line, I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone and I’ve always loved the big full maxi skirt look so we worked on something that we loved.  Plus whenever I tried on something like this, I would have about a foot of fabric dragging on the ground so in addition to creating something we loved, we made it petite friendly too! To make it a bit more casual and (perhaps to be a little cheeky) I added our new I’m so Fancy tee to complete the look.  We also have these skirts in a shorter version, which I adore and have been wearing way too much.  I have to admit, the maxi skirt will not be worn as often but it’s still something that I think is a fab addition to anyone’s closet!

If you are petite (aka short) like me, this will fit you fabulous as we made it to fit at a bit of a shorter length than what you’d traditionally find.  I am 5’2″ and wearing 3″ heels in these photos and as you can see the length fits great. Size wise, I’m wearing the size small and I’m typically a 0 or size 25 in pants.  The waist does have a bit of stretch to it so if you think you may be between sizes, I’d size down.  Please let me know if you have questions about fit or size, I’d be happy to help!
